"Heaviness" definitely has to do with the scale, key, and tone used. Most of Metallica's songs are in standard tuning

@spencercowan8862
@spencercowan8862 8 жыл бұрын
+Josh Costa Truth be told, it doesn't. It just matters if you're playing within the key's boundaries and in the same scale. (Example: d harmonic minor scale, meaning only F notes would be sharped and the 7th degree of the scale would be raised) That is, if you want a song just in one key and scale.

Heaviness is not exclusive to one tuning, just as the tuning is not exclusive to sounding heavy or not. You can sound heavy as fuck in E standard and you can play soft melodic stuff on a low tuned 7-string. It's the right combination of both that makes things interesting.

Correct setup, lighter gauge strings and truss rod adjustment. If you setup properly you can pretty much tune however the fuck you like. Provided of course you're not talking down tuning some strings and uptuning others

He may just have used a pedal like the drop pedal where you can go up half steps or whole steps, up to an octave up/down.

+kiekoes replace e string with .007 gauge and move every string back one, ie. the .011 string goes in the A string slot, which allows you to tune up to A standard, although the high A string breaks easily

It's funny how the People who judge your style of playing can't play anything let alone a guitar . Your playing style is awesome , I've been watching your videos for quite a little while and I even watch some of the same ones cause I can never get tired of them . Keep it up man! Your videos are awesome !

Yes, you sound more heavy when tuned down.

+Vatroslav Morbidović It helps to sound more heavy, but the heaviness comes from the riff and not the tuning. This video is trying to show if only tuning down you sound heavy, which is fucking false.
