I’ve done a similar thing with timber boarding but used a nested array family in a curtain panel family….mainly to avoid all the mullion grids you get with an array. It works really well and is easy to cut or swap out for something else. The downside is you need to use masses to cut anything not square.
@matheusalmeida93364 жыл бұрын
It is better to create a family with an array. This way you can count how many sheets you put in the project. Also, you can create a set of parameters that will check the lenght of the wall and divide by the sheet width, giving you the count as well
@Detteermiig3 жыл бұрын
Please elaborate, can you link to a tutorial or perhaps a family that you created already? Is it still easy to create openings for windows and attach it to the roof for automatic cuts?
@alexanderzaex4 жыл бұрын
I did it with a mullion profile and it went well, thanks for teaching that other method :)

Your content is great! The volume is incredible. This is an example however of overmodelling. Unless you are a cladding subtrade, this should just be a layer in your basic wall assembly. these flutes would only need to be depicted at 1:5 so it's good to know the capabilities of the tools, but like a sage bloke once told me, 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should'. Cheers people, we do BIM in 🇨🇦 too eh!
@TravisVanClieafBIM4 жыл бұрын
Apologies...sorry...I should add, if you're working on a little project and you get to make design designs...add these to a basic wall as a sweep and then openings aren't an issue. However, you can only do this for vertically applied cladding, which is the only way it should be used. Sorry...in my humble opinion. 😆

@@TravisVanClieafBIM that's my take too. No need to apologize haha (I know it's in the friendly nature of canadians to though!)

use wall profiles instead. Create a profile Family. Load into project. Wall Profile. new type. use the Profile. Check the cut opening option, and you can even create special profiles for the corners. The only disadvantage is that you will have to copy the Wall Profile multiple times but you can use "Array" for that puropse
@balkanarchitect4 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I explored that option as well, that approach gives you easy openings but is harder to place, because you have to copy the profile and the approach in the video is much quicker to place but takes more time to make openings. I guess everyone has to choose what works better for them 🙂

For a visual approach is ok but in a large scale project a think it would be a very time consuming try to deal with the openings issues, in the work we do that whenever we want to show a 3d detail view in sheets but never in the entire buliding not to mention that in the sheets that representation use to look awful in a large scale views mainly

That sounds like the way to do it. Create a zoomed in 3D view of a specific corner of the building (maybe entrance) and clad just that small region for the sake of rendering presentation.

Supose u have a huge facade r u going to do it one by one 😟I dont wanna mention any other bim software her , but really is this the right method , i have seen other great method in another software u will just have to select the product from bimobject and then apply it on the " walls " not the opposite . Good video as all your video's are, but following your instructions I get many issues with the wall cladding. I am using manufacturers Revit profiles which are basically the same 2D profiles you create then I extrude them per your video but the curtain walls end up with many issues. Too many grid lines along the wall length, can't make panel so replaces it with system panel, height of wall ends up much higher than the building, won't cut properly.....the list goes on.

Thanks for your video it was very helpful. I was wondering if you could help resolve the issue of angled walls where the sheeting disappears as Revit cannot resolve the roof slope? In other words the top of the profile (cladding) is horizontal and cannot follow the slope of the roof so Revit replaces it with a standard "solid panel".
@CesarRamirez-te3sr4 жыл бұрын

You can cut any shape you need with a solid in place family and then hide the cut shape in your views or give it a visibility parameter that you can turn on off. however you will need to cut each panel individually.
