The term „maverick” is broader than that in Mega Man X (and let's not talk about how it's nearly a slur against disobedient Reploids in Mega Man Zero) - for example, Repliforce was collectively branded maverick in the intro of X4 after Colonel refused to come in for questioning and fleed when Repliforce was held under suspicion of causing the fall of Sky Lagoon. Basically, Repliforce were political mavericks. Then there are reploids like Vile, who was a psychopath since he was built due to a quirk in his programming, as well as the new generation reploids (most obviously Lumine in X8) who can go maverick at any point on their own - these are moral mavericks. The last category is where any standard „killer robot” like HK-47, Ultron or Metal Sonic would fall in a crossover scenario.

Zero. No contest. The most important thing to remember is that Zero is patient zero for that Virus which overrides robot AI programming. Metal Sonic was never designed with anti-AI countermeasures. Also, Wiley made Zero from an alien alloy he stumbled across called Fortenium and Zero is the successful implementation of Fortenium as an internal conductor. This is why X has such a hard time dealing damage to Zero, and can basically only harm him with fully charged Solar powered X-MegaBuster attacks. Great video.

Zero is widely considered to be a top 3 character in Marvel vs Capcom 3 at a competitive level, is indisputably top 1 in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and tends to be superior to Megaman in most Megaman X games in terms of capabilities as a playable character. That may be the case, but Zero never really surpassed X. But instead had a hand on the latter's improvement, and only lived longer due to cryostasis. Also, if one actually stops to think about their feats, Metal Sonic generally fights in a greater scale than Zero. Even if Zero is more powerful than base Metal, he has no feats that matches Metal Overlord (who can fight 3 suped up Sonic heroes, when each are at least planetary). The Black and Absolute forms in contrast are just double multipliers and thus shouldn't match up.

Zetto Vii True, but take time to think about it. While Metal Sonic in general would surpass zero (maybe in brute strength but we know from the video zero is WAYYYYY faster), he doesn't really have a lot of weapons. He focuses on hand combat and occasionally range moves, but that's about it. Unless he copies, he doesn't really have a lot of range and close up moves. Zero(base form and no special weapons) has Z-Buster and Z-Saber, which are his most versatile moves in his arsenal. Although Metal Sonic can just block using Black Shield, he lacks offensive moves to counter it. Metal Sonic may win over Zero in strength but he can't take full advantage of it.

I think you miss one important detail here. Metal Sonic is not exactly what it look like. He is a Gizmoid (alien robot) modified by Julian Robotnik (Eggman Nega) with use of knowledge from future. He only look like Sonic because it was designed to defeat Sonic, but the thing is that his main ability is to copy abilities of other robots as he basically is a swarm. Metal Overlord from is exact prove of that. Even if Metal struggle fighting with Sonic who is not a robot (plus his goal is to prove that he is better then Sonic in being a.. well.. Sonic what is true reason why he screw so many times as he never use his true power). In fight with android he has huge advantage as he basically can rip all Zero powers. Furthermore because of his nature he is almost indestructible (it only stuck on Little Planet what give Ivo time to invent way to take control over him) so it would be just matter of time until he get final blow. And Zero virus (one what created Sigma) don't work on robots without AI designed by Light.

Kirby characters are hard to place. Even Dedede's battle with Wario acknowledged this, so they went the safe route and onlt had them at Large Planet and FTL. With those stats, Zero destroys Meta Knight, but if they give Meta Knight MFTL+ speed via scaling from Kirby and possibly the power to wipe solar systems then it's an easy stomp for Meta. It really just comes down to DB's interpretation
