This is not like any of their other songs, but it fits their real/virtual world concept perfectly. One of things that makes them distinct, which you can't tell from this mv, is that each member has a "virtual" counterpart or version of themselves. Naevis, who appears at the end is from the virtual world, and so far does not have a real world counterpart, although maybe that is about to change. You can get more of their regular musical style in the song "Girls" or their debut song "Black Mamba." You can decide what you think, but I guarantee, they are not like this.

Aespa's style of music is pretty experimental. Most of their title tracks have been very powerful, with a lot of edm, hiphop, and hyperpop so this one to be quite different, since its a lot calmer. Its kinda hard to explain but they have a whole story for aespa: the four members all have avatar alter egos that went missing, so they go into a place called "kwangya" to find the reason between the disconnection between the virtual and real world. in welcome to my world, they find naevis ("a virtual human" who helps the girls connect their avatar from kwangya to the real world) in the forest (naevis' voice is created from 12 analyzed voices)

Thanks for this awesome reaction, John! Aespa is a lil' bit harder to get visually once they have a pretty well established lore that is told through the music videos. Musically, though, I suggest you check their song 'Savage'. As a fellow musician, that's a song that has 'a singular spice' to me, very different in the world of kpop, bringing up complex progression and lots of modulations!

aespa is a lore-centri group, their sound changes according to the lore's landscape. season 1 (black mamba) was taking place in real world/virtual world but this track is an opening to season 2 (my world) which is happening mostly on the real world i'm just assuming here because naevis (the ai at the end) mentioned at the end of season 1 she's going to the real world.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that such good songs appear in K-pop and usually they are b-side and not even every fan knows about their existence. It's usually a rare exception and they never release a similar song again. Perhaps that is why they are able to produce a masterpiece, because they experiment in different directions. It looks weird against the background of a typical K-pop title. It's like they're burying a good song on purpose. In aespa's case, it's lucky that they're popular enough that people listen to their b-sides.
