Metal Vocalist First Time Reaction to - Ren - Animal Flow

The beat at the start is pure Willy Wonka (Oompa Loompa song). The overall beat was intended to be tribal and Ren shouts out to Kanye and Black Skinhead. There are many influences in here but the strongest is George Orwell's Animal Farm (I predict a surge in sales for that book). There are cinematic influences e.g. A Clockwork Orange. For me this is a creative masterpiece - and I love the little hand-dance sequences (I am very shallow)

Don’t fidget, I’m livid, not mentally with it, I get kind of sick when I’m stressed". Genuinely have never heard somebody like this

Of note: it is one continuous video take. That means all the players had to be in place when the camera arrived. Ren and all had to move through that amazing building they shot this in to get the one take we see in the video. Phenomenal.

Yes, agreed, sublime. Also though, clever, as it isn't a single take. There are several places where they use walls / doors as cut points - it's so clever that you'd have to be in the industry / attempted this yourself to even notice. Doesn't take away from the brilliance for me

​@@NoCredits you are wrong kiddo. Ren’s most ambitious one-take video to date was shot with the help of eighty friends and friends of friends at one of his friends' apartment, which he described as something out of a Kubrick film. Now think before you speak next time.

@@NoCredits Those doors are shown as well as the reptiles in the tub and the cats on the dryers to give Ren and other members of the cast time to be in place when the camera gets to them. Ren was very explicit and wrote a whole story on how this was all done in one take. They started at 7 pm and didn't get the perfect take until 4 am.

Being a 65 yr old Ren always reminds me of Pink Floyd. Comfortably Numb, Animals etc......Check out -One Of These Days - Pink Floyd Pulse concert, great pigs. So I'm a true fan. I think he has a depth of thought as Roger Waters. Glad to see a new artist who can do that and be timeless.

I love Hi Ren and Humble, as earlier said this is not "my thing" in music but I can feel the lyrics in my heart. As a mom to an autistic child and friend to people inside the autism spectra I feel at home with his thoughts. I’m and ‘oldie’.. and new to Rap (and only bc I saw Hi Ren and went down the rabbit hole). I’ve watched a ton of videos from many genres, but rap had never really caught my attention. What I’ve noticed tho, is that only a few reactors get even 10% of the meaning Ren is presenting in his music and videos - the rest totally miss his message, even tho they may enjoy the beat or his rhymes. It’s sort of sad to watch…

I know what your saying, but I think it's the genius of his writing. To be honest - I love music, but usually do not concentrate on lyrics at all. Normally they just sound like an instrument to me. Ren is the exception, I hang on every word. I know his story, and have read Animal Farm. So that context does give it more meaning. But I don't expect most listeners to have that background, or it would be very niche. I do think a lot of people will be reading it inspired by this song though. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
