Every time Starset comes out with a new album there's always that #1 song and for me Perfect Machine is definitely the one. When Divisions was released I had this song on repeat all day. Perfect Machine is my next Telepathic and Antigravity.

I just saw Starset in Concert in a small club. They had they sound of a huge concert hall. The bass shook the whole building. They were crazy good. Dustin's vocals were so spot on. He did not have the issues with his voice that he has had in the past live. Totally awesome.

I actually equate Diving Bell to breaking up over depression. This song is literally a sociopath admitting they’re going to use someone to make themselves feel better about their self image. His “perfect machine” is just a trap that he sets to make people feel more important, and fulfill a hole in his heart. But I hope you feel better about it now, because my fiancée me over my depression.

The way I interpret it is that the person wants to be good truly but their pain is making them into this “sociopath”. They want to love the other person but on the inside this darkness is making them do these bad things subconsciously without really noticing. When he says “ I will use it to protect you from me “ I feel they realize what they’re becoming and what they’ve done so they try to keep the other person away to protect them. It makes more sense when he says “I’m just a liar without deceiving, I’m just a broken clown make believing” they’re basically saying that they were also a part of the illusion that they were in love but underneath they really only wanted something to make them feel better and didn’t really care about the other person’s feelings. To sum it all up he did truly want love but deep down only when it benefited him but he couldn’t see that until it was too late. Sorry for this long paragraph lol, just wanted to share my thoughts about it.

I think the song is about the BMI. Even in the symbol, think about it. Every letter is what the BMI could say if it was a human, but we can also see the other side of the song, and you are right, it can be interpreted as a human trying to love but knowing that his thoughts, words and feelings can damage other person, and i think it also can be interpreted as a human forcing himself to love without actually feeling it.

Last year I decided to get youtube music. I just finished listening to a Sevendust album. I forgot that it keeps going, playing songs that the app thinks I would be interested in. Then Starset popped up with Other Worlds Than These. I was hooked since. A while later I came across the collab Waiting on the Sky to Change with Breaking Benjamin, who I'm also a huge fan of.

I'm going to share what I feel about the song, umm well to start I have depression and anxiety, for me I can relate to the song so much, but I interpret differently, I see it as me in the shoes, "when it says show me what you desire, so I can fake it" I feel like tell me what you want how you want me to be I'll be it even if it's well not or it hurts me, when you wanted as well, it's like I didnt well want this, I want you to feel the same pain you made me feel, but in the same time I want to protect you from me, i dont want to hurt you, I'm a liar but I dont deceive, I will use it to protect you from me, I dont want to hurt you, please stay back, even you know this was for nothin, it's like it was a waste it was nothin but a fucken waste, we pretended or they pretended to make me feel better, but we were both pretending I want them to feel what I felt how I felt, but I dont like hurting others, I want to protect them from me before it's too late, the way I feel towards this song is like it vengeance but it like well I'm to nice to do anything I can hurt others its not in me, that's how I see it in my shoes in my vision, sorry for the long paragraph guys

Not only this song is 100% relatable , but I'll be damned , you look exactly like my ex . For me , it has to be the bridge that does the trick , it was all for nothing , a sad show of 2 years . Followed by the first 3 lines of the chorus " Lay your heart into my perfect machine / I will show you what you wanted to see /Just a mirror till I get what I need " , the man did exactly that and then he found someone 9 years younger . Ever since I first found Starset in the end of 2017, it's like I am constantly waiting for them to drop an album... There is amazing music out there for different moods, and many times I think music better than Starset. But I come back to Starset. Their music is like made for the soul, or at least my soul... Even if their next albums will be as trash as it gets, like present era Limp Bizkit level bad, they'd still be my fav band cuz no one else could have pulled off these three albums
