This has been a m...r to make. Those of you that have been waiting thank you. In this configuration this knife will not be available anymore due to cost of manufacturing. I received my Chad last month. The screws are all t8 they included a package of omega springs Torx tool and wire clip. I love the knife, bust the coarse diamonds will be a pant destroyer.

The Chad is my most anticipated knife of the year. I did the Kickstarter back in April and it will be here tomorrow I believe! Definitely stoked and Kudos to Kunwu for all the updates and transparency through the whole process.

I received mine two days ago. Just like the Pulsar, absolute perfection! So smooth, and just amazing for the dollars spent. The textured scalloping is a nice touch. I patiently waited for mine and was communicated with ,very well, by Sergio. So worth the wait.

I bought a Pulsar by them, and have ordered and not-yet received two Chad’s (one for my wife). For me, the interesting thing about this company is they are actually interested in doing things right. Their prices are fair, but their materials seem to be treated just, better in tiny ways. Their G10 has a micro texture to it so it looks slick but grips in the hand, etc. They do things that at first hit as different, but after a while show a fresh take on industry standards. They didn’t have to challenge or change, but they did. Most importantly to me, they care about blade steel treatments and geometry. I’ve been sick of paying for expensive materials only to have them not heat treated properly and under-performing. I like that using their knife constantly shows and reinforces a clear design philosophy that every part contributes to. It doesn’t hurt that their owner engages his customers and shows direct evidence that he values and acts on their feedback. And their prices are incredibly fair for what you are buying. I’ll keep buying from them unless something changes.

Sadly the Chad won't be part of there regular production. here's a quote directly from one of the updates on Kickstarter. "Now both you and Kunwu payed the price of waiting, you by paying significantly lower price of the model that after this will not see the light of the day unless its 500 bucks plus, and me by feeling like I had a nasty divorce and have to go to my ex wife's condo to pickup my underwear so I don't walk butt naked for the rest of the month."

My Chad came with the new milled clip. Love it. Also has the wire clip in the box if you prefer. There are a few Omega springs in the box as well, but they all seem to be just replacements. Not the stiffer springs. My only complaint would be that I can shake the blade out with a small wrist move. Wish it was stiffer. However, still say it over-delivers for the price. Great quality. Came razor sharp as well.

I just got mine and hammered it through a mind steel wire about as thick as a #2 pencil and holy hell, not a nick. The finish got a SLIGHT smudge but the blade is perfect

Pulsar and Orion are really good models as well! Basically all their knives are extremely recommendable. I've never heard anyone complain it say negative things about them.. I just wanted to say something positive about them here.. Now I'll shut up.

I hope they change the clip mounting thing so that it matches the Spyderco spacing. It's like half a mm off and that's a bummer. So close but no dice. This looks nice.

Year later they ship it with two wire clips an a milled one installed, also spare screws for clips. Blade still bites slightly when closing the knife. It needs slight position change in closing technique.

Maxace did this steel last year (Killer Whale 2, ASP-60), and they ran it at 63-65, which gives it about the same edge retention as Maxamet but much higher toughness. If you run it harder than that, edge retention can increase another 10% or so, but it loses 30-40% of its toughness. This is an instance where knife manufacturers should not be chasing the highest HRC on the datasheet.

My Chad is 4.97 oz.! I guess the milled pocket clip, and that extra mm is where the extra weight comes from.

I got my smooth it Chad a week ago. The thing is an absolute beast, so sharp. It came with the ti pocket clip installed and the wire in the bag with replacement omega springs and screws. They also sent me an improved clip for my Pulsar for free. For the kickstarter price it is just insanely good. I'm not sure these are going to make it into actual production though, Sergio said the steel was an absolute bear to work with. Hopefully they do and can be profitable for that price.

I love my pulsar too and got the free clips but mine didn't fit on my diamond ti. Did yours fit onto the pulsar?

I paid for mine through their kickstarter. It was supposed to be mailed out in May of 2023…they didn’t send it until July 3rd, and also mine got lost in the mail, thank you DHL.

@@truthbetold7718 Yes, I got a DHL tracking number on July 3rd, but it hasn’t updated since July 7th. This is the last message update on July 7th “EN ROUTE TO DHL ECOMMERCE DISTRIBUTION CENTER OR AWAITING PROCESSING”. When I contacted DHL, they said the tracking number I gave them isn’t in their system. When I tried emailing Kunwu, I’ve gotten no response.

I love Kunwu knives, but I dont dig crazy hard steels, because I feel like they could be prone to chipping or cracking. Also, while I like sheepsfoot knives I like them a little more pokey on the front, in case you need to pierce something, like foam. Front is just too blunt for me.

Screws are T8. The only screws that are T6 are the deployment tabs.

Anyone know the properties of pm60? I'm guessing it'll have crazy edge retention, but what about the toughness and corrosion resistance? Chemically it looks similar to k390 with more W, Mo, and Co.

corrosion resistance is low to non existent. toughness will be low due to hardness but possibly higher than that alone would suggest. we'll see in a few months the results of practical application.

Only carried Chad for about 4 weeks. During that time I broke down a decent amount of cardboard but that’s it really. Hard to say exactly since I never sharpened it but I think it would benefit from a slightly steeper edge angle. Maybe 22 degrees instead of the 20 it came with. kept a fine edge but has a slight drag through cardboard after my use and no sharpening. A lot of people are fond of Chad and have put it through more than I did but I much prefer the Pulsar for its ease of maintenance and overall shape. One of the best things about Chad is the action. Best bar lock action I’ve felt.

@@ajpend A more advanced sharpener recently took to testing the chad after sharpening it to very sharp on 800 grit followed by diamond compound strop. Holds up well to cardboard and is able to push cut newsprint after a days worth of cutting. Whatever a day's worth is I don't know but the OP works in a warehouse setting and presumably cuts a decent amount of cardboard. An observation is that due to the extreme carbide content it develops a toothy edge as it wears from freshly sharpened. So toothy because carbides but sharp because small carbide size and even distribution.

I am so tired of M390 or 20CV. It’s refreshing seeing people use different steels. I’d rather have a more affordable knife with a properly heat treated s30 or 35v than shoddy m390. I’m so happy s90v is coming back and these other not as well known steels. Love what this company is doing.

What's funny is u never see any videos of people using and sharpening these exotic steels , but u hear a lot of complaints about hrc and so on , yet they don't use them to get the actual benefits of the steel being heat treated properly

I like it, but I wish the top of the blade was pointed and not curved, so it was easier to poke with. Also, the triangular thumbstuds remind me of the Cybertrix, but I like the texturing on this way more.

Also, getting back to this, if you like draw cuts, then you might very well enjoy the Kizer Kobold 2.0, since that's kinda the point of the draconic nose on it. I've been thoroughly enjoying the KCE:K Swagg's Sway Back, but I think I've flipped it so much in the past couple months that I finally need to get some Wiha Bits and Drivers to tighten the pivot and get the blade centered again, because one side of the liners and scales do have a little expanding looseness to them. And, though I have them sitting among my Amazon lists to keep an eye on pricing, I suppose I should get those from your affiliate links to kick a little back to ya! 🤘😎

What's your problem? They send out enough informations with E-Mails. I also still waite for mine, but I have patience. You will get a really awesome knife for absolutely a steal of money, just chill a little bit more.

I’m still waiting. Customer service has been great to work with for me, on this one and on my Pulsar, which customs took for about 45 days… they’ve been prompt in responses, and actually on the pulsar reached out to me first about the customs delays mine faced. I’ve not seen other customer service this good. I hope I’m not just a one-off in that regard.
