My XM-24 Spanto triway arrived today and holy crap man.. I get it. I've had Medfords and Striders and neither of them really impressed me. But these (I've got a gen 6 XM18 as well) fully live up to the hype. Big beautiful and well made beasts..

As a lil late to the party, though that's par for the course, I've used the 24 as my EDC for 4+ years along with the AD15 and the AD20S, with the 24(50%+) getting the most pocket time then the 15(40%+), then the 20S. Owning both a bar along with a machining company, I have used them for many warranty voiding activities for years from say one and all three have handled the use/abuse superbly!! With both an academic and professional background in physics and machine/materials biomechanics, I too was and still am skeptical of the Tri-Way Pivot system, as it's akin to the modularity craze that hit both the orthopedic implant marketplace in the early 1990's and the luxury watch genre a few years ago. Simply put, the more variables that are introduced, the higher the probability of wear, tear and catastrophic failure, whether it be a distal femoral spacer on an implant, a modular(interchangeable) bracelet on a watch or a Tri-Way Pivot system on a knife. I don't care what in-vitro tasting shows, it can NEVER replicate in-vivo performance or outcomes, at least it has not over the long term in orthopedic implants, though it is too soon to make the call on watches or knives, though I'd bet every watch in my luxury collection or every knife in my knife collection that neither will stand up to a 50-year out one. That said, the 24 is a hell of a blade and handled everything that I've thrown at it, though so has the 15 for a hell of a lot less money, lolol Happy New Year🍻 RP

I just got my first hinderer, an Xm-24. It’s a really big well made knife! I’ve been flipping it for an hour now.

Hey, I work for Rick Hinderer....and I was playing with a full Ti scale today....not a textured one, it was smooth with a big horse head logo milled into it 😉 For real...but I am not sure when we will be producing more of them...if I hear anything I will let you know ..I can also look and see if we have any at the shop for sale. And to all the folks who have never seen an XM24 in person...this vid does them no justice...they are HUGE...LOL. There are about 30 of them laying on the table less than ten feet from my mills...they are giant. Same with the full track...cool knives for sure, but too big to EDC for sure, unless you are just different from most folks....BIG BIG knives. I always joke with Ross when he carries his at work...I always tell him I like his "folding sword"

This comment makes me so happy! And yes, I would be VERY interested if you have one for sale... Thanks so much for the comment!
@rickmoss70405 жыл бұрын
@@metal_complex I will see what I can do! No promises, except I will ask Dino if he can locate me one for sale. The one I was playing with was a proto and I highly doubt that exact piece is for sale but I will see what I can come up with.

I bought a XM-24 in 2024 out of curiosity. Size is relative. I have large hands and there is enough handle that I dont need to choke up. Thats what I was after.

This has been on my too buy list for a really long time. Only thing stopping me is all the fancy versions are usually sold out. I’m just going to blurt it out “what’s with that damn choil.” But the wharncliff is super dope!

I am a little biased...but I do have to agree that without a doubt they are definitely ONE of the best knives made....I was a long time fan of Rick's knives before the year or more of begging him before he gave me the opportunity to work for him. Lots of good knives out there, but ours are among the best. Rick is actually a fan of a lot of other makers and friends with a lot of them. He wears other makers' shirts into the shop all the time. He has a lot of respect and I have NEVER heard him trash talk another maker. I think if he does not like one or more of them...he just doesn't say anything about them. Loads of respect for Rick and I am SUPER proud to be a Hinderer employee and build some of the best knives on the planet👍🏼...and our quality control process and even the way we machine parts, and hand build them....is all only getting better. We also have some new stuff in the works...nowhere but up for Rick Hinderer Knives! So glad to be a part of the Hinderer family. He treats us amazing and I love my job!
@frankrice12535 жыл бұрын
@@rickmoss7040 ---- very kool Rick. Its good to hear from an employee in the comment sections of video's. Sometimes I feel like makers would benefit greatly from hireing enthusiests rather than a person to run a machine or whatever. Im sure alot of employees are just looking for a paycheck-- (thats ok) there's a good chance if I was to work for Hinderer, just give me a knife or 2 on Friday lol.
@rickmoss70405 жыл бұрын
@@frankrice1253 lol....yeah, we get a good discount as employees, I will not go into detail on how much, but Rick is good to us....but it is a damn good thing we have to use cash or check...and not get it deducted from our check or I would NEVER bring home a paycheck😁...but there is a mix of knife enthusiasts and normal people who work for us....but myself I was a knife enthusiast for a while...and a Rick Hinderer fan for a while as well....and it took me a year or more if begging him, but he finally gave me a shot and I believe he is glad he did...i will try to get back to to you guys when you have questions.
