During a recent European run, our friend Paul McGuire of Obscenery Films traveled with the band and captured glimpses of what day-to-day life on the road is like for Cattle Decapitation and spoke with the members as they reflected on years of touring and what their future holds.

Travis may have an amazing voice but nothing that comes out on an album from bands this big is ever unedited. Late to the party on Cattle Decap... having, only recently, been introduced by a buddy to 'em. However, on hearing the last 30-40 seconds of this tune, I CAN recall having heard it before. At that time, I was very desperately trying to figure out who they were because, wherever I'd heard it, they hadn't availed me to who it was. I was very sad. Kevin Tiedeman i can assure you, i do. If you're referring to black metal being a fringe grassroots subgenre with anarchist or counter establishment views with something to say about politics or religion, using bad equipment (even though this was probably not an artistic choice by the pioneers) to appeal to the typically less than wealthy everyman and portraying an image of being one with death or evil or whatever they think corpse paint means to them, then yeah, that's fine, let them have their fun. I respect the early black metal folks for what they were trying to do. But you can definitely shoot for the same goals and make quality music. All I'm saying is that without people listening to often low quality blues for years, rock and roll would never have been born, and the same goes for cattle decap and black metal. It takes a village to create a band like this, and this particular village is full of edgy kids from Norway who think satan worship is cool and everything is bleak. Cattle decap can at least play their instruments.
