Just found your site. You had an oil pit where soldiers would have worked on their tank or cannon and you just left it. They could have had rare parts soaking to get clean. It’s buried like that to keep dirt and other debris out of they were bombed or attacked. So much could have been in that area as it seemed they had dug in pretty well.

That’s a military issue grease gun from the war! Don’t be discouraged, that’s an awesome find. Was probably used to grease howitzers and maybe tanks

I was thinking that the oil drum & brush could have been used to lubricate any of the big cannon moving parts that could have been used to shoot the cannon ammo onto their enemy. The brush is such a crude brush that it looks like it would have been used just to quickly slap on the oil / lubricant during the operation of the cannon.

I’ve been watching your channel since before I started detecting (I’m not asking) lol But I would give anything to detect a WWll battle site. I imagine it is a very emotional journey. To unearth a place/artifact that has lied dormant from the time it was dropped or left by a soldier. When I watch you dig a piece I try to picture the circumstances in which it was lost to ground.

The American .45 caliber M3 submachine gun was known as the "Grease Gun". You'd have to be on the Western Front to find one of those but you may have been near a motor pool or maintenance shed where they worked on transport.

Great video with a lot of interesting finds. I'm surprised at the small airplane and machine gun squad that you found at the dump site. But do you turn in the rounds of unused ammunition like the rifle ammo in the clips to the police or certain officials? Or do you rebury it or sell it to collectors?
