Dany was still getting used to that Explorer that Lzzy Hale gifted to her. Lzzy even mentioned how big it is for Dany- which I believe she’s still getting used to here. She’s been playing this solo for years so it’s definitely the guitar
@KabukiKid4 күн бұрын
Oh yeah... I've heard her do versions of that same solo dozens of times cleaner than here (not that this one was bad... just not as clean as she usually is)... the (new at the time) guitar is almost surely a factor on some level. Another thing that Dany did in only the past year or two is move to a thinner pick. I have no idea how she can do solos with those Dunlop Big Stubby picks. (Same ones Ale used, amusingly.) Dany did say recently that she wishes she moved to a thinner pick earlier. I play guitar and always shook my head seeing her play with those thick Stubby monsters. lol
@SDsailor73 күн бұрын
@@KabukiKidSo she is using a normal guitar pick now?
@KabukiKid3 күн бұрын
@@SDsailor7 Yeah... Raven picks... but they are now defunct, so I wonder if she got a good supply of them. ;-) Not sure of the thickness she settled on exactly, though... just thinner than those Big Stubbys. To me, they look like heavy picks from what I can see... not impossible that they are medium, but definitely too thick to be thin picks. She got custom ones with her autograph on them and the band name.. and a picture of a donut on one side, as silly as that is. She pitches them to the crowd after the show. Ale got Raven custom picks too... but hers have a picture of her cat on them. lol

Title track to their 2nd album released in 2018 when they were 18 16 and 13. The record is a concept album, telling the story of a girl who goes from obsession to stalking, murder, descent into madness and her death. Last song in chapter 3(of 4), the evil side is taunting the Queen. The word Pau is singing in the pre chorus is "Korosu", a Japanese word roughly translating to kill or murder. The Gibson Explorer Dany is playing here ,is the one that was gifted to her by Lzzy Hale when they toured together in summer of 2022. Most of their songs it's Ale's bassline that grabs my attention, but I love the guitar riff in this song. You want newer stuff from them, try "Hell You Call A Dream" , live from Pepsi Center CDMX 2023.

The Warning are musicians who take influence from literally everything. Chopin, Mozart, Heart, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, pop, and on and on. One thing i have found in my 70 yr rock journey is that there is value in all genres. Great musicians can convey an emotional ballad, rock the house down, or strip a song to an acoustic presentation that shows their artistic ability. Opinions have value - especially the ones who "want to do right". Keep on rockin'!!! PS: try 'Automatic Sun' from their Pal Norte festival overlay - think it may be more in your wheelhouse.

They are SO young and SO good already! I can't wait to see them mature over the next decade or many more, hopefully. Tons of talent in this band. Seriously, they are the real deal. Edit: I would say that we have been warned. The best is yet to come. I can't imagine what that will be, but it will be mind-boggling I'm sure. I mean historically epic.

Dany’s solos aren’t always flawless, partly because she is usually moving across the stage while playing them and not just standing in place, and because she switches between 4 different brands of guitars (PRS, Gibson, Manson and Fender) during a long show. That was probably me that mentioned the harmonizer with the 10ms delay to the second channel from her Kemper profiler pedalboard last time. lol Yeah... I play guitar (rock/metal) too and love all the tech that goes along with it. ;-) I adore Dany and really aim to have better stage presence because of her. I was always the only girl in the band, so I also marvel at the concept of being in a band with your sisters! Man... I wish I had that! lol :-) I also mentioned in another post here about Dany playing with those Dunlop Big Stubby picks... and she has since moved to a thinner pick. THANK GOODNESS! I think those Stubbys were sort of "holding her back" a bit... especially with solos. Watch the performance of this same exact song at say the Shiprocked performance from 2024 Feb 9th and you'll see the difference. PRS guitar... with better guitar picks. Solid version of that same solo. The right equipment matters!

Judas Priest, "You Gotta Another Thing Coming". I think that's what it reminds you of, ya know, old school metal. Dany is not a shredder, she a riff player. So they write to not have lead breaks very often. This song, due its old school nature needed one. But that is one technique Dany is still learning. She'll get there. Her most recent leads are a bit more polished.

Dany doesn’t always play a solo note for note from the studio version. If you watch different versions of the song “Z” you’ll see Dany plays the solo a small bit different each time. Dany never will be considered a shredder, she excels at the more melodic solos. Her stated biggest guitar influences are David Gilmour, Matt Bellamy and Lzzy Hale. Dany doesn’t play the Gibson live much anymore for whatever reason but her Fender Baritone(s) are pretty big guitars as well. Dany’s pretty petite compared to Lzzy Hale for example and she tends to favor lighter guitars. Obviously being a 3 piece limits Dany’s opportunities to solo during songs for the sake of the live performances and not being completely reliant on backing tracks and that also affects their writing styles by finding different ways to fill out songs without the cursory solo that is so prevalent in most of todays rock/metal. If you try and look at TW through a metal prism then you’re probably not going to care for Dany’s guitar work in their newest album much. It’s very different as Dany really experimented with different styles in KMF.

So Halestorm fans are going to come for me for what I’m about to say. I blame the clunkiness of the solo on her playing that Gibson guitar. Lizzy Hale gifted that guitar to Dany, so Halestorm fans want to see Dany play it on stage. Dany’s style and small stature is more conducive to her playing her PRS, Monson and Spearfish guitars. The studio version was recorded with Spearfish guitars, and she used a Monson guitar during live shows until she switched to PRS guitars during the Pandemic. As you dive deeper into the rabbit hole, you will see the difference in her performance with those guitars vs the Explorer. Check out the song Z from this same concert to see her solo with her PRS. Finally, I disagree with your guess of nerves playing a role. She has been doing this live in front of crowds since she was a teenager. They have opened for some major artists, most notably the Foo Fighters in Mexico in front of 50,000 fans. They are seasoned professionals. 🤘🏽⚡️
