The full tattoo reads - Nevermind. After ripping off his shirt, Jimin famously rocked a fake "Never-mind" tattoo during the boys' MAMAs stage with Block B on Dec. 3, 2014. It turned out to be a teaser for the then-forthcoming The Most Beautiful Moment In Life era ("Never Mind" was Suga's intro track on the album, which dropped in 2015). Sometime around November 2018, glimpses of it were seen again. This time not fake. React to Intro: Never mind, for more understanding.

It's not to the bottom of his back. It's just 5 moons down his spine and are all on the upper part of his back down to around where his shoulder blades end. We have seen his lower back since he got the full tattoo and no moons on the bottom half. + when he wore a white sweater you could see that it was 5 moons and only to maybe a little lower than his shoulder blades. 🌒🌓🌕🌗🌘

Two words: powerful and EPIC. Jimin has had enough! He’s like, I know who I am now, come at me bro! lol There is so much imagery here: how the dancers (possibly inner demons maybe haters) chase him and keep pushing him back as he is almost free, the voice distortion increasing the intensity of the angry lyrics, how they desperately try to keep him down before he rises above them, the last time he sings “set me free” is when he is in the lift from Lie so he is being set free from the “lie” as well, and him emerging in all white finally free. Just a masterpiece.

With Jimin through his solos with BTS they were always unique to him and could only draw the message solely by him. I didn’t know what side of Jimin we were going to get from him on his solo album but a he kept hinting in his interviews from 2022, he said he wants to show a raw darker side of him. 6:57 I think the ending of the music video was a direct continuation of his solo song "Lie". The choreography to that song was identical, the dancers rise him up and he reaches his hand out. But back then it seemed like the song, "Lie", ended on a sad note. "Lie" seems to be about Jimin feeling like he fakes his whole personality and he can't escape the lie that has consumed him whole. And this song here, Set Me Free pt.2 seems to be about him "freeing" himself from the "lie"? So from the expectations, the death threats (he's had a lot of those), from the haters, from his own critical viewing of himself? Maybe it doesn't affect him anymore. You can see in the "Lie" choreography he couldn't escape the "lies" cause the dancers representing all those bad things (hate, lies etc.) kept dancing with him till the end and then left him collapsing on the stage (it's a part of the choreography). And here the dancers lift him up again but this time Jimin doesn't go along with them for long and doesn't let them make him collapse, has enough strength to make THEM all collapse and a new "him" emerges after that. Also I don't think his tattoos finally showing without any "censorship" is meaningless. Both the "NEVERMIND" on his ribcage and the moons on his neck and back are real tattoos and tattoos are still kind of a taboo in Korea. So it would make sense to show them, even for a bit, cause that means he doesn't care what the public says and isn't affected by the hateful people anymore.

Love watching your reactions as always. But yeah the tattoo on his ribs says Nevermind, it is from Yoongi's Intro: Nevermind from their Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2 album. Jimin has always been inspired by the music his members write, and we all suspect Nevermind must have had a great impact on him that he decided to permanently getting it "engraved in his chest" like the lyrics say. He has quite a few other meaningful tattoos, such as the number 13 on his wrist, which is a very special number for him, youth on the back of his ear, and young forever on his arms, and well as a little 7 on his index finger, which is the friendship tattoo all BTS members decided to get to celebrate their friendship. As far as the song goes, as ARMY who has followed their journey from start to now (even if I came in a little late), Jimin has always been a hard working guy, he used to struggle so much with finding a balance between what he was supposed to be like and what he really was like inside. There's a few interviews from their documentaries where he has talked about this struggle. Thankfully these days he says he is finally able to just be himself and not try to fit any sort of image the world tells him he should fit. This song talks about that and we believe is directly connected to his solo song LIE from the WINGS album and it also references ON (Gotta go insane to stay sane is almost a direct quote from ON) and follows the themes of the Shadow concept from Map of the Soul series. The choreography of SMF even includes nods to the choreography of LIE, Black Swan, and ON. Set Me Free Pt 2 is also a nod to Yoongi's Set Me Free interlude from D2. Even the starting note from SMFP2 is the same as the ending note from Yoongi's SMF. And in a way, thematically theyre also similar. As far as personal interpretation goes, to me is seems like this song is Jimin fighting with his shadows, u can see that he is trying to break free but the shadows keep swallowing him back through the entire song, but then near the end when he let's the shadows consume him, they elevate him and then he resurfaces as a whole new person. Imo that's like him finally embracing his shadow and his past to give way so his true self can now come to the surface ready for his Chapter 2 to begin. I think just like Indigo was Namjoons segue into his Chapter 2, FACE is about to be that for Jimin as well, and I'm really excited to see what they will be creating in the near future. Seeing them grow into themselves and pushing forward to become even better people and artists just fills me with so much pride as their fan, yknow? Anyway this comment got way too long, but uh yeah can't wait for the album and will be looking forward to watching u react to the new songs. Stay safe!!

about when you were talking about dancing: of course the steps themselves might be very hard to do clean and also dancing for a full song at full power is extra difficult - but dancers practice and practice on end to the point where the dance comes naturally, you're not necessarily thinking about the step that's next, you just automatically do it. its the enthusiasm that you have to keep up. in conclusion bts are insane dancers haha

The choreography has several deliberate nods too. I didn't know he'd talked about it and it was still one of the first things I noticed. The song is thematically almost a continuation too. It has a few things in common with Black Swan too and I wonder if some of these ideas were born then.
@LPnerd Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 the song Black Swan, is in reference to a Martha Graham quote that talks about when a dancer can no longer dance , it's their "first death" they go from White to Black. IN this Jimin is going from Black to White, he has set himself free to be happy with himself, and his art. also, in ON, the main lyric was, "Bring the pain on," in reference to all the pain and hate they went through up until that point. Bring it on, we can survive it. Jimin is voicing that same sentiment in Set me free part 2, except for him, personally he has fought his way out of the depression and self doubt he had. He no longer cares if haters mock him, he is confident now and they can F off. He told us he wrote this a while ago when he was in a dark place and was trying to pull himself out of it. I am here for the these 7 guys to keep growing and exploring who they are as people and artists because damn, Jimin came and just killed everyone and THIS ISN'T EVEN THE TITLE TRACK!!!! But It's like 3 of my favorite songs had a love child (Lie, Black Swan, and ON) There is definitely a TON to unpack in this song and some of it, unless he clarifies, (Which he has no obligation to do) we will never truly know for sure exactly what everything means, but a lot of times I feel like that is what they want. They want us to draw our own conclusions based on our own unique lives. The Choreography was AMAZING. I believe The dancers were the same ones from ON. They are called "The Lab" and the Choreographer is named Sienna. But I'm not 100% sure on that yet. Now, I already saw someone explained about the Nevermind Tattoo and about all his tattoos in general. I'm not 100% sure but I believe the "shirtless" scene is a VERY thin shirt with a German poem written on it (or fake tattoos of that poem on his actual skin) The poem is called Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen (I live my life in ever-widening circles...) Here is a link to the poem in German with an English Translation : lyricstranslate.com/en/ich-lebe-mein-leben-wachsenden-ringen-i-live-my-life-ever-widening-circles.html As always thank you for your honest and genuine reactions! An Army wrote her theory about the backdancers being his thoughts... and I agree with it. If you notice they are in despair at the beginning, pushing him all the time to their darkness, even if he runs they chase him... at the end, some are in despair, others are trying to stand and others (the line behind him) are stable... at the end, when all begin to move in the same wave, they could give him a base to put him high, "cocoon" him, and finally, he can be himself. As always, BTS being storytellers 😊 this is his evolution story... since the BU he's related to transformation... This MV is absolute artistry! 👏👏👏👏

People on Twitter are Jimin antis and don’t understand that he was talking to himself, telling himself to f all your (meaning his) haters, and that opps is not exclusively used by black artists or culture. The autotune was intentionally and creatively used to almost seem like two different people. Like call and response.

The dance practice is all in the light so you can see the choreo so much better. Love it! I am not a fan of auto tune distortion. SUGA and J Hope have used it and it worked for them, but I wanted to listen to Jimin's real voice. However, now that I've lost track of how many times I've heard the song, I realize it is a way of making the different expressions stand out. Many layers of vocal sound, with Jimin's voice in there, too, worked to great effect. Wow. Jimin did this. He really did.

I'm really happy that all the sound from the MV song is in the audio recording. - you know sometimes there are parts not included in the audio that are in the MV audio. Like I wasn't sure if they would cut out the choir sound at the start but they've kept it. So atmosphetic, I love it. Oh and the symbolism in the MV from the dancing to the German poem - brilliant! 👏 I was waiting for you to mention something about the horns. Not sure if they are real but I can definetly hear something like trumpets in there 🎺. I had already seen both the MV (multiple times 😉) and the dance practice. I really appreciate you for reminding viewers to go and give the originals a watch though, especially as some people might watch the MV but not a dance practice. Something I think that's really interesting about the dance practice is we get to see different camera angles to the MV choreo. Looking forward to more Jimin solo song reactions from you. 💜

If you think about the choreography, there’s all this fight against the oppression within himself from what others say or judge on him and he’s saying stop, get out of my way, gtfo. He’s claiming and honoring himself. So the impression I get in the end is now Jimin is free as himself.

❣I’m just so beyond excited! Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt.2’, it’s everything & more then I could hope for, Jimin’s amazing artistry, his so beyond spectacular,, so mesmerizing, phenomenal performance! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production! Jimin was hands on, involved with every facet! No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this makes me that much more excited, waiting in anticipation for release of the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” on March 24, along with his other, main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Now the spotlight will be just on him! Though we’ve seen Jimin’s amazingly spectacular, so mesmerizingly outstanding solo performances before. But now, as Jimin himself, mentioned, he’ll indeed be showing the depth of his raw inner self! In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free. I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white."
@jodyb8748 Жыл бұрын
Why do some of you refer to “set me free” as narrowly as “free from being in a group” ? and this talk of limiting him to a certain range… and him going w it because he’s “so selfless he would always step down for others to shine” ?!?! Now he IS a selfless angel but you’re not cuz how could you minimize him and victimize him like that? Just to fit this agenda you’re talking about.. You do realize he has the freedom to put out solo songs even when they were all still together (ex: promise, Christmas love) AND solos in albums (lie ,serendipity) not to forget feats. This is giving me solo stan energy as well as undermining him and his decisions, he could’ve released one of his songs in low registers if he wants because he’s totally capable and he did in some feats. Respect his choices and preferences maybe? He can release when he wants and whatever he wants. Don’t put words into his mouth and don’t narrow the emotions he tried to convey thru this songs to what YOU think instead of what HE actually said about it and all the things we actually do know publicly happened to him from the massive hate , death threats , the 2018 problem , the stalkers stealing his mail and trying to create drama, over sexualizing, fat shaming and so much more god and who knows what else But no after the first song he puts out about not wanting to hide when he’s hurt or mocked you go oh yeah he means group and company restrictions………. he resigned the company and still chose to include pdogg in all his songs right? You’re just giving me solo behavior and victimizer energy i hope you open your eyes and start listening and trusting jimin himself not other ppl or out of context bs

Here is my personal analysis of the song: At the beginning of the mv, the dancers look up while covering their eyes, as if what they were seeing was too bright, or that they were not meant to see what it is, maybe the futur Jimin ? « I got a good time, yeah time to get mine » he had a good time living as the Jimin we know, but he now wants to find who he really is « I wandered in a maze » I kinda see in the dancing formation at the very beginning a maze with Jimin walking in it before being able to get out Jimin ends this first verse with « finally free », maybe about how he got free from the maze, a first step to find himself Then Jimin talks about how he won’t look back, saying that he will fly away like a butterfly now that he’s free « Look at me now, I won’t hide anymore even if it hurts» the dancers are pointing at him like haters that try to find even the smallest flaw to mock him, but he says that he won’t hide his true self even if he suffers from it « Going insane to stay sane » for me looks like he is talking about how by facing his shadow (the criticism he gets, his hardships..) and embracing the good it has to offer, it can be a motivation to move forward and overcome challenges « Raise your hands for the past me » Jimin talks about his past and sings « now set me free », he was able to get out from the maze but the dancers are still around him now representing his past stopping him from moving forward, Jimin asks it to let him be free Jimin tries to run away from it, but the dancers (his past) run after him and catch him, making him walk back to them Jimin is back, he lost clothes and accessories through his path to freedom « I got feel low, still in a maze, but I got no time to break soul just let me flow » at first he gets sad about it. He feels caught up in the maze again but suddenly he says that he has no time to feel down, he has to break free « Hey fool just get off my way, sht up fck off, I’m on my way » he is now angry and talks to the people from his past and his past itself that still block him, he is on his way and nothing can stop him « It’s begun my prime time….fly away butterfly…finally free » like at the first verse, he succeeded at freeing himself from the maze, but the dancers push him back to them, unlike the first time, they were not able to do it that easily, they seemed to struggle a bit « I won’t stop even if they mock me, going insane to stay sane » he is determined to face his past again « Raise your hands for the past me, now set me free » like the last time, but now half the dancers are at the floor in front of him, which means he was able to get rid of half of his shadow Suddenly the dancers gather around him and try to grab him from everywhere, they get ahold of him and lift him up, Jimin is not scared, he sings « set me free » again and this time they all fall to the ground, setting him free from his shadow, he is now wearing white (it can be a symbol of peace, he is finally in peace with himself)

Yes! I agree. I didn't like the auto tune and effects at first as I love Jimin's vocals. But looking at the whole song, I could see it as the hate or pressures from the past, that fade away by the end of the song where Jimin's voice soars as he is set free. That's my feeling when I listen. His performance in this with those dancers were so powerful it made me emotional 💜💜💜

In terms of the end, that was the choreography from Lie. So I took it as him finally escaping the "lie" (to himself maybe?) to become his true self.

Me too. I think there's also an element of rebirth in it, and hope. It's rooted in strength and resilience - the way he rises. Actually that moment is reminiscent of one of Suga's lines in On - that even if he falls to his knees, as long as he's not dead and buried, he'll rise again. But the answer to Lie - so deliberate, and so satisfying 💜
@suebee0619 Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 Oooooh good catch with the lyrics that then pinged my brain with something else. The last thing we hear before he drops at the very end is very reminiscent (if not exactly it) of the chord before JK's solo in ON. Those lyrics? Where my pain lies, let me breathe (per doolset, means let me accept and exist in it, basically) My everythin’ My blood and tears Got no fears I’m singin’ ohhhhh Oh I’m takin’ over You should know yeah Can’t hold me down cuz you know I’m a fighter I gladly sink into the pitch-black abyss Find me and I’m gonna bleed with ya The more I dissect this song and video and get new info from people like you that point me in different directions, the more I'm impressed and in awe of what they managed to put together.
@evantesseract737 Жыл бұрын
@@suebee0619 I don't know how many of these were deliberate and how many are just natural resonance - but it's all delightful. I'm going to relisten to On again, but I think you might be right about that. And every new layer I peel back just reveals more of them underneath. I think our Jimin has a lot to say 😁 The lyrics in this are pretty direct, but the staging, choreo, and references add a lot of depth. It's both very BTS in approach and not, in a way that I think is specifically Jimin. I can't wait to see more. 😁
@suebee0619 Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 So. Many. Layers. He used the same choir from Lie too. I'm not sure if the horns are the same as from ON. Delightful is perfect. I am having the best time unpacking SMF as a whole and each layer blows my mind. I've read and had a few different takes on the spiral - each one works for different reasons and if any are true, just fantastic.
