The Weeknd changes his style a lot, his older style is actually pretty different compared to his newer songs, the point of suffocating himself was to kill his old self and his old style, also his “new” self has a different hairstyle than the one he suffocated. Daft Punk created the beat for this

Weird thing brother... I'm becoming a fan of this guy. Rapidly. There's something about him reaching Michael Jackson's legendary levels. Seems like high quality POP Music is making its cool comeback. I like it. A lot. ...I like seeing you creative, wise and full of energy as well Blake. That's one of these things which make me happy AF. Keep it up. Never stop. It's good for you brother. \m/

You picked up on the meaning of the video really well on first watch! This is the first video I've seen on your channel and I love your breakdowns. Please do more Weeknd you will love it! House of Balloons, Professional, The Hills, and Faith are some really interesting songs I would love to see your reaction to. They are more difficult to digest but they're extremely interesting.

He is killing his old self. He changes his style with each album he makes referred to as “Chapters” by him and his fans. This is his first album after becoming a “starboy” or blowing up in mainstream. his older styles were very heavy, druggy R&B. Hes saying look what youve done youve made me a popstar essentially
@cglenn14573 жыл бұрын
Fantastic! NEW SUB! You summed this up astutely for being so new to Abel, AKA "The Weeknd". I'd call this song a "flex" or tongue in cheek brag. He started out his career categorized as "Alt/dark R&B" and gained a cult following. He was an underground phenomenon. Through verse, he informed his fan base that he was going to reach for a higher level of fame and wealth and hoped they'd still follow and enjoy his music when he went mainstream-pop. Obv, many fans saw him as a sell-out after the success of "Beauty Behind The Madness" (the album prior to the Starboy album). This song is his response to the sell-out label. It's not deep like most of his stuff (I am a *FAN* of all his work, though I prefer his older stuff) but with the assist from Daft Punk and those amazing beats, this song is still a vibe and a banger.

Daft Punk is a DJ/Producer duo, and probably one of the most influential groups in dance/edm music. You have most likely heard some of their songs like "around the world" , "one more time" They've been in the game for decades now. Really enjoyed the reaction as usual ✌

Also daft punk was in the painting as i mentioned in my other comment they usually appear as robots after their 2001 HIT MASTERPIECE of an album “Discovery” also the weeknd is killing his old self. He has always been a very mysterious persona and each album represents a different character. He is my fav artist and i recommend kissland as an album to react to

Hey man huge Daft Punk and The Weeknd fan here! Id say listen to house of balloons/glass table girls. Its one song that has two parts, all i will say. It blew me away in 2013 and got me into him from then. His old style was what appealed to me at the time and i appreciate his new stuff too but as someone who watched him grow, see where he came from and how he got so big! Daft Punk are Electronic french house duo with the robot helmets and they revolutionized it. You’ve more than likely heard “ONE MORE TIME!” but i also recommend reacting to “human after all” by them or “ da funk”

If you like Blinding Lights, you should try ''In Your Eyes by The Weeknd, that's also a 80 synth waves style. In each album the Weeknd presents himself in a new style, that also includes his looks to stay away from his past self to involve into someone else, for the better or worse. The tracks of the videos also differentiate on the basis that many tracks are likable but some are dark and deep and others are just flauntly regular pop style songs he does. He is most certainly an artists that makes you listen, no matter the genre your into, he has songs that you may like from time to time. I also am a fan of Metal/ The Symphonic Metal kind, but the Weeknd most certainly did raise my eyebrow of the art he makes, and that is quite rare.

I love his voice.Remind me of Michael Jackson By the way: It's a pity that you don't listen to Cradle of Filth. Their last 2 albums(Hammer of witches and Cryptoriana) are fenominal!They had a second wind.Yes, this is no longer black metal, but extreme gothic metal with a dash of black metal.Please listen to these 2 albums in your free time.

@@stefanropotean yeah but that can be so overwhelming a task to ask of someone who isn't a huge fan of the genre to begin with. The Trilogy rabbit hole goes so deep. Maybe if he's gone down Pink Floyd's "The Wall" he'd be up for a similar experience? Because the mix-tape era, for me, is perfect for scheduling a whole day to get stoned with a lover and vibe to it. It's a whole damn experience! (As I know you must know!)

The beat is Daft Punk, so since you like it, you should check them out. Some of their older stuff is quite hard and the beats are pumping. They sadly just retired, but their music lives on. This video is from 1996 I believe. When MTV was still playing music, not reality TV. xD kzbin.info/www/bejne/o57MZ2N4mZmdidU

I do not know how many non-XO fans know the story behind this song. Abel and Daft Punk were working on "I Feel It Coming" which was supposed to be the lead single for the Starboy Album. But while Abel was working on that song one of the members of Daft Punk had that drumbeat sample on his phone and he kept playing it. Abel heard it and got obsessed with it. So they stopped working on I Feel It Coming and they sat down and wrote a song based on that drumbeat. It took them 30 minutes to do it. And now Starboy will be a Diamond record shortly.
