@@mushroomyploom I've watched the voice actor for Pyra's streams for Xenoblade 2 and I think part of the Q and A had that question. I don't think it really was about pay, but moreso time and they had to make do with the material they had despite the developers themselves not adjusting lip flaps. Zeke's introduction in Uraya is especially noticeable with this. However, I think developers had more time and did a much better job for the Torna DLC. I barely noticed if lips were off sync for that game.

I'd say the lip flaps were meant to sync to Japanese, and just weren't changed for international release... Except I'm a weeb playing NG+ in Japanese, and it's WORSE. Literally the only thing JP!Rex does better than EN!Rex is yelling scenes. Might just be over 100 hrs of familiarity, but EN!Rex just sounds better, and matches lip flaps better. The Zekenator, on the other hand, matches flaps much better in JP.

Xenoblade 2 is my 4th favorite game period, has my favorite combat system from any game ive ever played, and I adore nearly all of the characters so much despite the English performances (though that was the fault of the directors, the VA's themselves i think were fantastic fits)... But when I hear "blush crushy" and the "place your hand on my chest" lines, my mind always goes back to the dunkey video and I die a little😂.

What the tutorial does is explaining complex mechanics in short sentence, however half the time it introduce something you can not pull over right away. When you are able to do the stuff, you can not check the tutor again since they only pop up once. So by the time you learn all the systems and mechanics which is the fun part of this game you probably already beat the game once. Many people may just quit at the beginning due to the long learning phase or some bs they put in the game(like the 80+ gorilla in the very beginning)

I don't like tutorials in any form unless optional. If a game forces me through a tutorial or intro sequence, it is automatically a negative for me. I like to experience games through playing them. Tutorials should be relegated to a digital manual in the menu.
