I went to Japan as an exchange student in the early 90's. My host brothers and I played Street Fighter II and Super Bomberman on the Super Famicom and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. But what really hit me was a few years later I got a phone call from a Japanese guy that asked for me in broken English and after a few minutes an American man got on the phone and explained he had an exchange student and lived in a suburb 45 minutes from me. It was my younger host brother. I drove over there to see him and spent the day hanging out. Mind blown.

日本は1920年と1922年にシベリアにいたポーランド孤児765人を救いました。ありがとう日本。 I am Polish . Do you know this story? In 1920 and 1922, Japan rescued 765 Polish orphans in Siberia. Poland asked Japan to rescue a Polish orphan in Siberia. Japan promised to rescue immediately. The smallest orphaned child was 2 years old. The child was crying near the dead mother. The Japanese rescued the orphan immediately. The child told the dead mother "Goodbye Mom". Japan rescued a total of 765 Polish orphans.Japan sent orphans to Japan for treatment.Orphans ate delicious and warm meals every day. All Polish orphans have recovered. Almost all Japanese donated money to save orphans. On the day of return, all 765 Polish orphans returned to Poland safely. In 2018, an elementary school commemorating this was completed in Warsaw. Thank you Japan. God bless Japan.

Wire haired Dachshund you do realize 90% of the things you own are from Japan or inspired by old Japanese products. Any of those cartoons you watched growing up were inspired by anime (yes anime was before looney tunes). Most of those video games you love all come from Japanese founders of the entire industry. The cell phone, laptop, pc you used to comment guess what.... Japan. I love America don’t get me wrong but you really think japans shootings, obesity rates, unemployment rate, education system, and crime rates are anywhere near as bad as ours? Most of the statistics you look up at per capita so you can’t even throw the “population” card. Plus you do realize how many people are on disability in America where basically no one is in Japan 😂. There’s a reason we’re called American pigs

You know, even though I live here in Japan, I loved watching this video. Edit: I really enjoyed the video, even as a "local" living here. Your thoughts are well laid out as always, and I think you guys just hit all the spots for a great first few days!

I lived in Okinawa for 3 years! I loved it there and mainland. I could live there. The people are nice, the customer service is awesome. It was a great experience! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Super Potato should be called "Super Expensive". Their prices have doubled and sometimes tripled. Akihabara, as a whole, has become way more expensive over these past 10 years. But, they do have a very great and wide selection of stuff...just be prepared to pay premium prices.

I was disappointed with Super Potato in Akihabara. There are Super Potato locations in Osaka and they're much better. I live in Kyoto so I can luckily go there within an hour.

This brings back so many great (there are no bad) memories of Japan. Beautiful people. Beautiful culture. Video games galore! Everything x10! Temples. Vending machine with Tommy Lee Jones on them. BOSS! I will be back... permanently
