I do have some questions about the metal from Siscer and the Deco-Foil. Do they have the worn out look once the shirt gets pulled apart? How long do these usually last once applied? Which is the industry standard? Why is one best? What can you do with the others? Cups? Bags? Sweatpants?

Heat transfer foils can withstand washing and drying well, and they are generally known for their longevity. However, they may be prone to slight fading or wear over time, particularly with repeated washings. On the other hand, heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is also known for its durability. Once applied, HTV creates a permanent bond with the fabric, making it resistant to peeling, cracking, and fading. It can withstand numerous wash and dry cycles without losing its color or adhesion. Both heat transfer foils and heat transfer vinyl can offer long-lasting results when applied correctly and cared for properly according to our care and application instructions. Siser Metal (www.heattransferwarehouse.com/siser-metal-htv/): can be applied to 100% Cotton, 100% Polyester, Poly/Cotton blends, Leather, Sublimated Polyester. Heat Transfer Foils (www.heattransferwarehouse.com/hot-stamp-foils/) require the use of a hot melt adhesive/receiving film such as EasyWeed Adhesive or Hotmelt Receiving Film (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4aqoH2kotGDhc0). The materials used in this video are mostly made for garments. However, heat transfer foils can be used not only on garments but on other substrates such as applying them to cardstock like in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/moTQm5arbNhkjpY)! You can get creative with it!

Metallic HTV is best larger lettering. Foil is great when wanting that washed or faded look.

Metallic will last longer on a shirt than foil....Metallic has fewer steps to apply then foil...It's just a preference.

I have issues with the Metallic heat transfer. I use my iron and it seems when I take the plastic off its taking off the shine of the vinyl, its left with some looking rough spots and the metallic is the only htv that gives me the most problems.

When you say it's taking the shine off, do you mean it has more of a brushed metal finish? This is what siser metal and decofilm soft metallics will look like after pressing. You are both great and thank you so very much. One question, I didn't see asked. I have a Vevor Press (I think it runs hot) if your using heat transfer foil w/siser easy weed transfer onto card stock, why would the foil get air bubbled lines in it? Then it doesn't stick there (of course)! I put my heat press set to 295 I'm only pressing it for 7 seconds on med. pressure. I don't have a pressure gauge, so I use the 3 pieces of reg. printer paper and pull (I heard when it's just a little hard to pull out that's about medium pressure). Since I lightened up the pressure and heat it seems to be better, still having some issues with the bubbly (it's not messing up my transfer paper now). any help is SO APPRECIATED. & TY again for your video.

Hi I’m from australia and I use a cricut heat press. I have metallic htv and I’m putting it on velvet stockings and sacks for Christmas products in my business. I recently did one sack on the velvet sack using the cricut heat guide instructions and the metallic vinyl actually bubbles so not sure if I should use a Teflon sheet over the top? What do you suggest?

No, only the heat transfer foils need the adhesive.

Would one or the other of these work for applying metallic patterns to a sheer fabric such as chiffon, without affecting the drape too much? The finished item would not need laundering.

I would say you would have to test it out, there might be a chance of burning the fabric, and possibly affecting the drape of the fabric, but it would depend on the shape of the design among other factors. I would just say to test it out with the decofilm soft metallics.

Can I ask why you put the Deco-film back under the heat press for another few seconds but not the gold siser one?Does it say on the instructions to do so? I'm only asking because my vinyl starts peeling after a few washes and i wonder if the extra few minutes press after removing the carrier would make a difference. Thanks

Good question. The second press after you peel the carrier sheet is what the manufacturer recommends. This is extra step mainly affects the texture of the vinyl and helps it look more like a brushed metal finish. If your vinyl is peeling, check with the manufacturers press settings and follow them exactly using a heat press.

The only thing we have for inkjet printers is transfer paper. You could create full color transfers with that but it will be very different from the metallic HTV
