Hello from Canada! 🍁 This looks like so much fun. I'm going to give it a try I got a palette of metalic golds for Christmas I could use. I really liked all the tricks with the tape and bits of paper for marking. Thanks so much for the idea, Liz. 🎨🖌

Good luck!! The palette of golds will be perfect.

I love how you’ve used a card to add texture to the trees! I’ll have to try this in my watercolour landscapes! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely tutorial

This caught my eye last night, Liz! I have some Kuratake Starry Nights and Pearl paints that I haven't put to good use, and I do like a bit of sparkle now and then! What a great idea with the masking tape - I put it on last night and had fun "slopping" paint on! It was very late, so I let it dry overnight, and I just took off the masking tape.........I love it already! I just cut up some paper and am going to continue with the video. You are so creative, Liz - and fun to listen to.🥰

Thank you for this demonstration. It would be interesting to redo the exercise but on black paper and use an opaque white for the tree trunks.

Yes a bit of negative painting using opaque white.

The masking tape trick for the tree trunks is such a great idea! Love this video.

It works well with the metallic as the paint is stickier than normal watercolour and doesn’t go under the edges.

Amazing and great idea. I hardly use metallics. The similar set I got was about $15 but got them on sale about $10.00, I think they're by Sakura (??). But those are beautiful. I should use metallics more.
@LizChadertonStudio2 жыл бұрын
I think I will use them more as part of a painting, rather than ‘pure’ like here. But doing this was fun! Sakura is a better brand than these!

With art supplies that you don't love, consider donating them to a low-income retirement/nursing home and/or a low-income school where they don't have access to creative supplies. As we all know, creativity is good for the mind, body, and soul! Those living in difficult circumstances are especially in need of the freedom and joy that comes from creativity. Hint: if someone has had a stroke or other condition where only one hand/arm 'works', then use a nonstick tape to hold down the paper-thus replacing the need for a second hand to hold down the paper/journal book. Scrapbooking is also great-donating inexpensive scrapbooks, papers and embellishments. If they don't have access to their own photos, consider one of those instamatic cameras where they can take pics of things where they live-a nice meal, a friend, a fun event, trees/flowers, etc.
