She killed that! It's not her genre. Even though she loves metal. She admits she didn't train her voice for that style of singing. But she brought a flavor to the performance with her almost operatic classical poppy kind of feel. I'm glad her and James were able to pull off a very different and tasteful show.

Lady Ga ga and James are both phenominal, and she really blended with him so naturally. They did'nt compete with each other, very talented and professional musicians and vocalists. The best performer I've seen Metallica work with.

Metallica is and always was a phenomenal band, so this performance is excellent, as to be expected and the addition of vocal jazz phrasing by GaGa at 4:06 just shows how incredibly talented she is and also how fluid musical styling can be with just a little added growl. Spectacular performance and energy.

She's a modern chameleon who knows her own brand very well - Kylie, Madonna & Pink are the only other pop artists I can think of that are quite as versatile. I suspect if she'd lived long enough, Amy Winehouse would also have been on the list.

This was just the dress rehearsal for this performance. What really happened was that the actress, Laverne Cox, was supposed to introduce Metallica with Lady Gaga, but ONLY introduced Lady Gaga as the performer, even though she was just a supporting vocalist. And James Hetfield's microphone wasn't turned on during the live broadcast. Which, in turn, very obviously pissed off the band during the live performance. If you look at the performance as it was aired, James was so pissed he literally threw his guitar backstage

Two artists collabing and making magic. I love that Lady Gaga has a love for heavy metal and she channels that into her own pop music. I can hear it. Metallica is great for crossing boundaries too. I know they got a lot of flack for deviating from thrash metal and doing things like hard rock, ballads, and country music. But really when you’re an artists the art just comes out as it is and people either like it or don’t. But a true artist can’t do it any other way.

@@jwinnfield9192 I've been a metalhead for 25+ years, and I can almost guarantee I've explored more of it as a genre than you have (and heard well over 7000 albums across all music genres) 🤷 Gaga is a very unique, real, and versatile talent - you're looking for flaws that aren't there (presumably as you just want to think of her as a throwaway popstar). She has adapted to James' style, and contributed in a way that fits and embellishes the song without taking it over - this collab is about the only thing Metallica have done since "Load" that I've cared about. You realise she cut her teeth in bands as a teenager singing Led Zeppelin songs, and she's been embellishing her own original material with perfect little screams in live performances throughout her career, right? 🤷
