You'd think that's enough to settle the matter. Yes, they sold out. So fucking what?
@nmlss3 ай бұрын
According to "the hardcore metal fans", Metallica sold out when: they recorded a ballad (Fade to Black) in 1984, when they signed out with a major (MOP, 1986), when they released a video (One, 1988), when they slowed down (black album, 1991), when they cut their hair and were more influenced by blues and hard rock (Load/Reload, 96/96), when they made an album without solos (St. Anger, 2003), when they came back to the thrashier heavier sound (Death Magnetic, 2009)… So yeah. Fuck whatever the people say.
@chaosh70403 ай бұрын
@@nmlss You left out the only one that pisses me off about them (didn't care about any of the others you listed)... When they actually accepted & didn't hand the Grammy they received for that nauseating crap (blah blah blah my soul to keep) to Lemmy who it rightfully belonged to & demanded Jethro Tull give them their rightful Grammy for "One".

When I talk to people. They don't understand. Cliff was the Maestro. In interviews , Kirk explains how Cliff put the pieces together. James would be working on something for hours . When they went to Cliff he would fix it in minutes. I wish I could have met him. My first memories of metallica started when I was 7. Seeing the "One" video. By that time Cliff had already passed. In some way , I kinda feel like the reason "One" stood out to me. Made a great impact on me. Made me want to go back in the catalog to discover Cliff. What an amazing artist.

As a fan since 1983, the passing of Cliff hit me pretty hard. I was 18 and deep into the metal scene when I discovered Metallica on a Megaforce Records compilation tape. I was hooked ever since. Even though he left us way too early, I am SO glad he was here, and glad he, and the others, kept me on the metal path even to this day. I took my 17 year old son to see Metallica in Foxboro, MA last month. He knows the impact Cliff had on the band, and metal in general. I am honored to keep his memory alive in my son, and hoping he can pass that to his future kids. LONG LIVE CLIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P.
