Thanks for the comment, Eric! It truly was a labor of love for me. Although this release was just a combination of all my videos I released 1 year ago, I threw in all the pop-up notes to give a little insight to what I was thinking during production. 😁

Hard work mixed with raw talent! Nice way to tie everything together with a Christmas bow on top my friend! Congrats

Hey Mike! Glad you are still checking out my videos. 😁 I needed something to fill the monthly release while I worked on redoing my basement. So I decided to reuse the videos I already had done and do a VH1 style pop-up video notes of the production of the entire project. I always loved those back in the day! New drum cover coming the weekend of Christmas, I think you might enjoy it. Have a great holiday!

@@RedGearMusic looking forward to it Brian. I’m struggling with the TD-50 interface. They really made the menu system so much more difficult to use compared to the 30. And I’m still not good with editing in SD3 so I’ve not been recording since I built the new studio. I’m contemplating going back to my TD30 but I really love the digital snare and ride…

The effort for bringing this video together. The attention for the detail. The sound. The drumming. If a Piano would fall on Lars, I would vote Bryan to be the next drummer for Metallica.

I appreciate the comment Ville! I don't think I can do EVERY song Lars can play but if Metallica does a Black Album only tour, I'd throw my name in that hat!

I'm so glad you posted this in its entirety. Admittedly, I'm breaking it up a little here and a little there. But the shortened version is that when you released each tune, the one thing you made clear (to anyone paying attention) was that you busted your ass to do this right. You went the extra mile on every - f*cking - tune. That doesn't even touch on the mixing which I still say is as close as I will ever hear to Bob Rock's end result. And you did that shit at home.

Bro! OMG! This is the best comment your have ever left me on one of my covers. Nothing will ever top that unless Bob Rock himself agrees that I made this sound just as good as his mix. So thank you man, it means a lot coming from you. My December drum cover has a shout out to you in the description. So be sure to check it!

@13:50 Don't worry about it, I'm sure you've seen 'A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica' and know that Lars rarely strung a full take together at the intensity on the record. Besides the fact that Randy 'Razorblade' Staub or the human equivalent of protools was around to make sure Lars sounded like a metronome. I'm not bashing him, in fact I think he's incredible behind that kit between 1987-1994. Amazing work as always!

Hey man, thanks for the comment! I knew that Lars never did a complete take on this record but playing it live is really what I am referring to. I know he now doesn't play these parts like they are on the album, but I'm sure when he was on tour around the albums release, it was closer to how it was played on the record. This is one flaw I dispise of Lars, he doesn't play the tracks anywhere near their original. This is one reason I envied Neil Peart from Rush, show after show, it was flawless. Thank you again!

I def have to play to a click for long breaks like that otherwise there's no confidence behind that first strike/note. I love how you didn't quantize everything and I can hear imperfections in a fill or two. It speaks to me as rhythm-less guitarist how understated and effective Lars is. Black album was my fav. Burn me at the stake, I don't care.

Thanks for the comment Adam! Perhaps I did quantize everything and Lars just fucking sucks at doing in time drum fills! 🤣😂 Nah, I stayed true to song as close as possible; imperfections and all! For me, AJFA holds a special place in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I totally love the Black Album it's a fucking close one but I think the technicality in AJFA is what draws me in. But if we have to go for sound and killer bangin riffs -Black Album all day long. Hands down. Always appreciate you brother! 🤘😎

This was really good. It must've taken a long time to put together. And yes, Enter Sandman has many memories! I'm not a drummer, but when I go to Guitar Center, I screw around on the drums, both electronic and acoustic. To me, they feel completely different. Was it difficult making the transition from acoustic to electronic? The Black Album was definitely a seminal album in our younger years.

Well, all the video footage was from when I released the Black Album Project this time last year. So all I had to do was combine them and add in the pop-up notes. So it wasn't terrible. I would say 2 weeks worth of editing; basically, I did a song a day. I have been playing electronic drums at this point since 1997. At first, the transition was weird but then again, the technology at that time was terrible. It wasn't until I got my current kit in 2016 that it felt more natural with a lot of tweaking. Sure if feels different but in a good way; less fatigue in the hands & wrists. The major advantage, is the VST and the vast library I can choose from. So I am an e-kit guy all the way now! To this day, the Black Album is amazing front to back, never to be replicated again. I am just glad we were there to experience it first hand. Thanks for the comment Breadfan! 🤘
