This song is probably one of Metalica´s best piece. Mainly because of those lyrics. That apply just as well to day as the day that they were written.

Best song off of MoP album. Definitely top 3 of all time in my opinion. But to clarify: some of you are here commenting and saying you "feel bad for soldiers and Marines because of this song." This song was directed more towards Vietnam vets who were drafted into service and had no choice. Soldiers of today, like myself, we weren't forced into nothing. We volunteered. We picked ourselves up and answered the call entirely of our own accord. We know the risks, we know what could happen, and some of us have seen the horrors of what could happen first hand. But we knew that could happen and we accepted it. We love our country, the Constitution, and our people, that's why we do it. To protect our country. A true soldier fights not because he hates what's in front of him, but because he loves what's beside of and behind him.

Ironically, as one of many who enlisted right after 9/11, fast foward 20 yrs later and I found myself having completed back to back tours in Afghanistan and gearing up for Iraq. Fast forward to current day and its as fittingly surreal. Be safe my brothers in arms, Godspeed ✌😇💜
