Say your prayers little one
Don't forget, my son
To include everyone
Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
'Till the sandman he comes
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Somethings wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of Snow White
Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Now I lay me down to sleep
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
If I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
I pray the lord my soul to take
Hush little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beasts under your bed
In your closet, in your head
Exit, light
Enter, night
Grain of sand
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Yeah!
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand

@@yokgor4675 well, I think you can say that NOW it is so, in too many ways, sadly, even if there's a lot more freedom for the normal people than 30+ years ago, but not at that time. Hetfield said in an interview that the police/army at this concert was clearly unprepared at the beginning because they had no experience at all of something like this, nor with a crowd that big (I think there were about half a million people there), and they thought that people in the mosh pit were beating eachother instead of having fun, so they reacted bashing people like in a riot. But by the end of the concert most of them joined the crowd. We can say that the "chain of command" was totally broken at that time, people had a great need of freedom (soldiers/policemen and everyone in the military forces were no exceptions), and events like this were the first attempts of finally having just that. You can bet this could have never happened even a year or two before.

These people lived in the country under the Iron Curtain a year ago! They lived in the USSR. They only listened to such rock bands from underground locations! You could go to jail for this! The song of your favorite Western artists was recorded on tape from X-rays and listened quietly at home so that neighbors did not call the police and tell them that you are a supporter of the United States Department of State or another Western country! That is why this concert fills people with emotions so much! They were finally able to openly do what they want!
@koishooter
@koishooter 3 жыл бұрын
@@Leoton007 Yes, I heard a radio segment about the x-ray disks (bootleg records made from old x-rays). I met some Polish students in 1988 in Greece who were the most resourceful people I'd ever met... Modifying broken flashlights to work with under or oversized batteries. All kinds of crazy stuff. I thought if there's a nuclear war, people in communist countries will survive because the can do the most amazing things with basically garbage. It is no surprise they figured out a way to listen to rock when it was otherwise impossible.

These "tHe CoLd WaR iS sTiLl GoInG oN" comments make me wonder do people even know what it was? Like no, it is not going on. I mean yeah, there are still nuclear weapons and tension between countries because of them but you don't go to sleep every night, with the actual worry if the world still exists tomorrow. The tensions and threat of nuclear weapons is not even close with what it was during the cold war. One mistake, one hasty call and the world today would be very different, with a chance that humans wouldn't even exist anymore. Now there are few big babies fighting about who gets to play with the toys.
