Is it just me or does this original mix have more bite? The remasters I have heard sound a bit flat in comparison to this. Most remasters I’ve heard from most bands do not have the same organic and detailed sound of the original mix. That’s why I like to get my hands on a reissue that has the original mix, to save money (at least with vinyl). In this mix I am hearing Cliffs bass much more, and the rhythm guitar is much more present especially with that riff leading up to the solo.

remasters are a moneygrabber, fucking crap that only exist because of the lack of ideas of this times we are living

Remasters suck most of the time. There are albums I can’t stand the remastered versions. Megadeths peace sells remasters is a piece of poo

this is what i keep telling everyone, but my friends still prefer some remasters and think that nothing's even different. some people just dont have taste, i tell you. it feels so shit, because i introduce them to such great songs and bands and then they just go and do whatever they want. i get that everyone's different and has different ways of enjoying things, but it just feels like a spit in the face and they dont even care, even going out of their way to make me feel like im in the wrong.

The first time I heard this beautiful song I was 12 years old. It's one of my favorite songs, it never bores me, and it has accompanied me for 40 years, without ever disappointing me... thanks to Metallica.

My friends used to think metal is just noise. I showed them this and now they know what art is.

Bro wtf the bass is almost INAUDIBLE, didn't know that in the original record the bass was too low
@ThrashRat Жыл бұрын
The album's mix is exactly the same in every release, meaning the bass isn't actually any quieter in this version. The change is found in the mastering, wherein more recent remasters of the album boost the low-end frequencies, which increases the perceived prominence of the bass, but muddies the sound as a result. Edit: The bass is perfectly audible during the heavy parts. It's just oddly low during the acoustic verses.

Why does there seem to be a sound of rain at the end? I got scared thinking it was raining here. When it's at the fade out part, I don't know if I'm hallucinating but I heard rain.

Can I ask what specific CD (if it was a CD) you ripped this album from? I absolutely love Ride The Lightning & would love to get my hands on a CD with the original mastering to rip to FLAC for personal listening.
@ThrashRat Жыл бұрын
I did rip this from a CD, yes. I believe this is either an Elektra or Vertigo 1st press. However, the _Music For Nations - CD MFN 27_ [1986], _Elektra - 9 60396-2_ [1987] and _Vertigo - 838 140-2_ [1989] should all have the exact same audio. (The reason they weren't released in 1984 like the LP and cassettes, is because CDs were almost brand new tech, so they reissued the production for new 1st presses on CD once the format became more popular.) If you're looking for a CD because you want to physically own it, then that's cool. But if you're more interested in the FLAC aspect, you can email me and I will just send you copies of my FLACs.
