In late 2022 I attempted Suicide. The entire time I was on Psych hold in the ER waiting on a bed in a Psych ward, I was singing this song. I credit this song to keeping me alive. I still listen to this daily. Please, don't hesitate to ask for help. Go seek counseling. Death is not the way out.

Honestly, it is absolutely stunning to me that in all of the social media world, the comments section is an endless pit of hatred and fuckin stupidity, but somehow, someway, the comments section for metallica live videos on YT is an endless outpouring of love and unity by the whole metallica family...It is absolutely excellent and uplifting. Thank you everyone. And thank you Metallica!

@@nrsolja1022 For me the song was like an emotional catharsis when I listened to it in my darkest days. Each time I listened the song all my negative emotions poured out and after it I was left emotionally empty, but in a positive way. I threw away all those negative thoughts. And with time negative emotions & feelings vanished and I was still alive...

Both obligations, and other things that bring me joy. Including listening to my music CD's on my stereo or portable player. My mental health benefited from an immense boost of positivity. He always has a speech before the bridge, this one being one of my favorites but another one’s gotta be in 2007, “ARE YOU ALIVE?!! TELL ME HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ALIVE!!!” so poetic, it’s like saying, if you made it here you can make it anywhere

This is the first time I saw this version of Fade to Black. I heard James’ speech during the Dallas concert, but this one was so powerful. I love that he is speaking out for everyone to hear!!! You are not alone!!!

I was at this very concert and I was so thrilled to hear this song, and when James paused the song to deliver his message to remind us all that we are not alone, I was nearly in tears because of how this song helped me thru some tough times. Fade To Black will always be my favorite Metallica song

Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further, every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly loss, this can′t be real I cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness, taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone No one but me Can save myself But it′s too late Now I can't think Think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though It never existed Death greets me warm Now I will just say goodbye Bye...

Best song ever written by Metallica. The complexity of the music, the lyrics, absolutely flawless! And still, after all these years, they nail it!

This performance kind of feels significant to me. It took place on my 18'th birthday, which is fitting seeing as they were touring for 72 Seasons. I've been thinking a lot about life and death, the meaning of love, the give-and-take, the importance of learning, and where I and anyone else belongs. It all comes crashing down at one point. It's a sort of burden that everyone is forced to bear: that which spawns from the desire to understand. You seek answers about your existence and life through philosophy and debates with yourself. You quickly come to realize that there is still so much ahead of you, and that the same applies for everyone else, even those much closer to death than you. Everyone wrestles in the grips of understanding until the day they die and wash away. And now it's my turn to balance that with the simple task of surviving, and making my own living. Sometimes, you fear that you won't have enough time to figure it all out. You feel as if you won't be satisfied with what you take with you beyond the grave. Or what you leave behind. I wonder if that's supposed to contain some semblance of beauty. As if yearning to achieve some impossible task is something I should be inspired or amazed by. I wonder what my opinion on that subject would be on my deathbed. Anything and everything that I had ever done would soon be gone, and for all I know, it could be the last time I experience or love anything. All the people and places and memories- gone, hopefully in a painless instant. And what would it all have been for? For them, of course, but I still believe I would feel disappointed that I had not come to understand it all. But I'm only 18. I have so much time to grow and learn, still. For all I know, I'll get dementia and forget about it all in due time. So I'm giving myself hope that I'll find my way. And I hope that no matter what happens, I will have given more than I have taken. And though I most certainly will never come to understand it all, I hope that I'll fade to black having never stopped trying... (also james' voice refuses to get worse lmao)

My place tonight is entirely different then when I lost my brother in 1994.... today I am feeling the 2 year anniversary of the loss of my Dad... but it doesn’t change anything... Metallica still reminds me that I am not alone... doesn’t matter the circumstances... Thank you Metallica (seriously, thank you)
