Huge Metallica fan here- I love that they did this. I grew up playing piano and classical music and I’ve always felt that metal music had a lot in common with classical music. To take already great songs and add in this orchestra was awesome!

Great review! This epic show was a 2 day event April 21 and 22 in 1999. I ended up going to both shows for my 17th birthday which was on the 23rd :).

This was in 1999. They did S&M2 in 2019. I was fortunate enough to go to S&M2 for the first snow, which was also the opening event of the new Chase Center in San Francisco. To say the vibe was electric and ultimately EPIC is an understatement. Best concert I've ever been to.
