That's because he is the hippie in the band. He's like the Grateful Dead or Plant in Led Zeppelin. Always mellow, respectful and nice to other people. He's the one who was nice to Jason while the others played the role of vicious SOB's while he was improving the band and doing his best. Yup Kirk is cool and of COURSE he love´s Hendrix. Hippie #1. Hard metal = Hendrix + Zeppelin + punk. There all good to me! As Ozzy would say ' Peace and love!'

Yeah he's one of my favorite too but is he up there with the best guitarists ...yeah i think he is....people on the internet just shit on him to much because he's not dave mustaine or he doesnt play it exactly the way they want him too...the worse is when they don't even play guitar or gig. Its inevitable that humans make mistakes but also need to explore creatively especially if your musician because as a musician your an artist... If your not playing with different tones and exploring different ways to play your stuff you might as well be a robot.

He's been dragging the band down for ages now... Hetfield has evolved, Kirk and Lars stood still and didn't figure out anything new in the last 25+ years. His solos on Hardwired go from "Heard that one before" to "You call that a solo?"
@NAPT0WNNUISANCE6 жыл бұрын
LMAO yeah okay. You do know that happens when you have over a hundred solos on your phone, you don't know about how to back up your phone and you lose your phone and have to come up with shit at a moments notice. Good luck trying that. He had some great solos on Death Magnetic and Hardwired actually had some pretty decent one's as well given the circumstances.

David Soule They probably didn't like how he lost 200 riffs or ideas on his phone.
@frigglediggle28 жыл бұрын
Everyone mentions the lost phone, but I say that's horseshit.. Just because he didn't show up day one with 250 riffs, they toss him under the bus? He's practically an original member of the band. IMO that's just not how a band should create music. One or two guys write the stuff, the other two are just puppets. That's like Megadeth style... He's obviously capable, just listen to some of his lead work on the album. Hopefully they don't dick him over next time. Makes me sad to see that Metallica seem to be creating a product to sell, not a collaborative work of art like the old days.
@Odie500008 жыл бұрын
David Soule I agree.
@A_Final_Hit8 жыл бұрын
David Soule Kirk has has several writing credits through the years, but it's always been a predominantly Hetfield/Ulrich show when it comes to songwriting. I mean, it's their band, after all. That said, Kirk's solos on the new record, unfortunately, are nothing new or interesting, which is a shame because i otherwise really dig the new album. If the weak solos are any indication, then maybe whatever ideas Kirk did bring into the sessions just weren't good enough?
