What?!! 80's was the day of metallica the 90's gave way to the greatest metal band ever and that is pantera. Phils voice overpowers all, dimebag was 2 notches up on skill from kirk, rex gave the pounding bass line, tho i will say cliff was a better bassist and lets not forget vinny who would and could dominate larz anyday of the week on drums. Metallica was and is great but pantera rules all.

A well-known fact among the Polish fans: In the late 80s Metallica came to play in Poland. A couple of fans wanted to meet the band so, despite a very limited budget, they booked a hotel room in the same hotel where Metallica stayed (they didn't know if Metallica stayed there - the hotel was located near the concert venue so they guessed that Metallica would stay there). They decided to wait and see whether the band would arrive. Indeed, they met the members of the band at that very hotel and invited them for a drink in their hotel room. James said that they would come. Now, the boys had to get hold of some booze. At the last moment, they bought some very, very crappy vodka (again, limited budget and supply shortages in Poland at that time). The Polish boys were waiting well into the night...until they heard knocking on their door. It was indeed Metallica, willing to drink vodka with their Polish fans. They stayed with them for some hours and had a good time. Now, that's what I call being cool and down to earth.
@aileaiho7684 жыл бұрын
Metallica was not in Poland in the late 80s, that's a myth. Edit: I was wrong

It's years of practise. I am the second guitarist and singer of my band and it's really hard to sing over the complicated riffs I like to produce :D but you just have to always try to do your best. If you want play and sing well at the same time I recommend you to take a complicated riff like Metallica's Jump in the Fire (in my opinion it's complicated, but no hard) and try to pronounce some strange poems at the same time. It's good practise.

Lars actually bashed his finger on the snare drum binding at 5:04 if you listen closely, Lars doesn't hit the snare with his stick, he hits it with his finger. He missed the snare because that little pause they do during the song was accidentally cut a bit too short by James, and Lars quickly had to hit the snare while leaning over his drum kit. His finger bled all over the kit for the rest of the show, he still has this snare with the bloodstains still on it. He wrote "Bleedin' for Moscow 1991" as a little reminder of this awesome show :)

@Goat I think most of this has to do with Hetfield's vocal execution. Early to mid 80's were actually relatively weak for him. His voice was brutal, but very out of tune. '86 till '92 was when he found his godlike form. It took a huge toll, and he lost that edge after blowing his voice out performing like this every other night for 3 years.

One of the best Metallica songs ever. Every riff in this song is hard not to move to. The fucking verse riff is just nasty. It's so simple, but it has a mean groove to it. I think people died this day if I'm not mistaken. The Russian police didn't know this is how fans "release" at a metal show and thought they were rioting. They weren't of course, they were just excited and into the music. Metallica was oblivious to this until after the show, or they would've stopped and explained to officials that this was just normal. At least that was the story I remember. They are still going strong, but this was in their prime...although I saw them in 2009 and was shocked they played for almost 3 hours at a very a high energy level at their age. They've still got it. One of the best heavy bands of all time, without a doubt. I'm sure diehard Megadeth fans would disagree, I think there is room for both bands. I have "Master of Puppets" and "Peace Sells..." in my top 15 metal albums ever. "Ride The Lightning" and "Rust In Peace" are in my top 25. I've just never liked Priest or Maiden, never seen what the big deal was. Black Sabbath are the gods of metal. "Paranoid" - "Sabotage" are in my top 30. I'm biased, I'm a HUGE Sabbath fan...early Sabbath. Nothing against Dio, I just preferred Ozzy. I was thinking a few days ago on the 28th anniversary of Cliff's death, what would Metallica be like today if Mustaine had gotten a 2nd chance, stayed with the band, Cliff never passed away and both were still in the band? Most talented metal band in history? Ok Lars isn't Neil Peart or Dave Lombardo...but still. That would've been a hell of a line up. Egos may have gotten in the way eventually. Sorry for the rant. This was around the time I started getting into heavy music, I was 10 or so...good times.

When Jason comes in at 1:24, the first time I watched this, I'd never heard Metallica sound like that. Jason was finally mixed in where you couldn't just hear him, he was mixed at equal levels, and it sounded like he was slightly detuned so there's just a little bit of flat dissonance and the dirty purity of that growl was magnificent. I had to stop, rewind, turn volume up, watch again. Stop, rewind, listen, etc. I never wanted to give up rhythm guitar and pick up bass as much as I did hearing that one growl. It was so satisfying to me.

On the one hand I am so pissed that I was born 1996 so I had no chance to see those perfomances live, moscow 91, seattle 89 etc. But on the other hand I feel blessed because I can hear and watch Metallica nonstop whereever I may roam (pun intended). During car and train drives, during lesson (lol), during walks, during grocery shopping, during studying, during workout etc. I focking love it. Imagine dying 1980 without hearing anything from Metallica, rip

Could have been better if it followed the rhythm and tempo more. It doesn't really linger too much on stuff that is happening and instead edited into a mess. Long and steady shot could've been cool when they stopped for couple of seconds. It would be awesome if they have the original footage of the concert on public and edit it out to polish it. Overall, seems like one of the best concerts in the world, too bad the editing was the only mess and it would be awesome to convert it to 4k.

Wtf are you talking about? its edited perfectly. Btw there is full version of this concert online, its edited lot less and it sucks!

I have maybe seen this Harverster Of Sorrow version a thousand times, but I can"t help it it so intense and so good that it always brings tears to my eyes. Hall hail Metallica (at least until 91 ...)

Even when he says stuff like “yeah” and “thank you!” Black era James makes it badass. He was the total package. The Long haired Wild man up for anything! No beer or woman was safe! Lol This is seriously my fav James. Best era to me was the Master/Justice era (with some great one offs like this concert in the Black era) Best James Black era James Cliff and Jason both were always cool and all ways will be

When the song comes back and Jason’s headbanging syncs perfectly is exactly why they should of never let him walk away from the band

This concert actualy displays a drama..painful...On the one side a band blowing like a wind on the stage screaming whatever they want to scream out, and on the other, the 'authority' beating up people ..the 'free' side of human nature and the 'morbid' side of it..
@bw92197 жыл бұрын

That "authority" is also beating bottles so the "free" side of human nature can't throw it at the stage.
