Not exactly, it doesn't work like that. Look at it this way, youtube will compress AGAIN whatever you are already uploading, meaning if you record the instrument, compress that recording into an mp3 and then upload it to youtube, this means you will still get ANOTHER compression from youtube so in total 2 compressions ! ! ! This is very important to keep in mind if you're a KZbinr, but even more important if you're a musician because you may get a much lower quality than what you intend, now, if you record the instrument but upload the file it directly to youtube (like in this video), yes you will have an mp3, but will only be compressed once, meaning the quality will still be better even if it's an mp3 file. KZbin basically reduces the quality of whatever you are uploading regardless of format so if you are uploading something of much better quality, it will still maintain a better quality if you compare it to the compression of the other format, simply put, if A>B then A/X > B/X considering X>0, here X is the extra compression KZbin does.
