@@nyiar9599 It mainly effects the way you play the guitar, drop tuning is when you tune the low E string down a full step so can play certain chords differently.

It's neither. D standard is when you tune all six strings of a guitar that is in standard tuning down one whole step, keeping the relative relationship between the strings the same. This mean if you play a song in the key of B, for example, and you physically manipulate the string in the exact same manner as the you would normally, the song will now sound in the key of A. This is done usually when you want to lower the pitch of an entire song, because the vocal melody is too high for your voice. Drop D means only the lowest string, the E string, is tuned down, or "dropped," so that the lowest possible note you can sound is now D, instead of E. This is done usually to get that lower, deeper sound that is otherwise not possible. Since this is the only purpose, you only need the very lowest string to be lower (there are actually many different reasons you would change from E standard, to D standard or Drop D. This is an extreme oversimplification.) Because of this, you can't just play a song as you normally would on Drop D, because new fingerings now have to be accounted for, seeing as the relationship between the strings in now new. But this is neither one of those situations. This is an electronic manipulation of an audio track. Therefore... No guitars were harmed in the making of this video.

I'm aware that it is essentially just manipulating the pitch but the video is clearly showing what this would sound like in D standard. I use this to play along when I don't feel like tuning back up to E standard. But yeah I get what you mean and this is informative for anyone who wants to understand the technicalities of this.

Can be drop D, can also be D standard, could be done in C# standard or with a guitar tuned DDDDDD, just have to play it on different frets to get the same notes. Would be easiest to play in D standard though.

d standard. You can't put a song in standard tuning into drop tuning and vice versa. You'll be off on the strings and it won't line up.

James has said Lars pictured them becoming the "U2 of metal" and they picked the album covers that he hated. Jason went along with it but since he left not long and joined Voivod and Ozzy I can only guess he wasn't happy with the new direction either.

This is D standard tuning, not drop D. Drop D would be just downtuning your low E string to be a D root more instead of standard tuning. This is every string tuned down one whole step to be able to start every note relative to the D chord.
