[10.05.2018]: Okay, It's my first day on Rocksmith leaving a comment here, I will come back after a long time and update my comment and how much I have progressed, currently can't even tell which color is which string. [30.08.2018]: Okay, It has been 3 months and 20 days, almost every day I played Rocksmith or guitar outside of Rocksmith. I used to read tabs and after using Rocksmith so much, tabs are very slow compared to Rocksmith, I can read everything very nicely and I can play most of the stuff and I have learned a lot of songs. I can say that my guitar playing was 2/10 before now it's 6/10. I have improved a lot. I will try to continue this comment in the future lol. [12.08.2019]: OK I don't know how long it has been since someone asked me to update my comment, my guitar skills are up to 9/10 now, I can read and play anything in Rocksmith (expect crazy solos) this song seemed impossible at the time now it looks really really easy, I am currently making custom DLC songs for the game so you all can enjoy. I'm not going to update this comment anymore. [10.02.2020] Yet another update: I can play SOME crazy solos that I talked about that I couldn't play. Rocksmith is the best, tabs are obsolete. [20.06.2020] Update time: I have spent some time in the Session Mode of the game, and I started learning music theory outside of Rocksmith, now I can create my own solos to songs, discover which key the song is played in, find what chords are played by ear and write my own songs. Right now I am trying to learn how to sing so I can completely make my own songs. [29.09.2020] Why not do another update: I have learned an insane amount of music theory, now I don't memorize chords, I create them myself, and I started to learn a lot of jazz chords 13's 9s, etc. I have been jamming every day nonstop with other people on discord every single day since I started learning my scales, and just trying to get faster really. Now I have a couple of techniques I have to learn in order to get better, like sweep picking, which seems to be incredibly hard. I don't think I will be able to sweep pick anytime soon but I am trying. I rarely play Rocksmith now because I just open up the songs and try to find the notes or the chords by ear myself, loop it, and improv over it, but I open Rocksmith whenever I want to just play a song and not worry about the theory part of it. I also got an audio interface now which lets me record studio-quality stuff and access to many tones outside of Rocksmith. [24.12.2020] Another update before this hell of a year is over: I am going to get a midi 61 key piano to learn piano and more theory, thinking of maybe writing my own songs, other than that I kept jamming with other people every day, so I got much faster in my playing and finally I can add some "feeling" to my playing while improvising, also it's a lot easier to find the key or the chord by ear. Still, there is an INSANE amount of places to improve, I still have to keep pushing. Still can't sweep pick at all. That shit's ridiculously hard. [15.01.2021] Happy new year to the people who are still reading this lol, today marks the 4th year of me picking up the guitar and deciding to learn it. I can comfortably say that I am considered a pretty good player now, I am kinda getting the hang of sweep picking as well, still haven't bought the piano. I just wanted to say that, If you are reading this far you are probably looking to learn guitar, or considering Rocksmith, if you really commit to learning this instrument, every single day, even if it's just to play only 4-5 notes, pick it up, play a little. I have become this good by doing just that. Consistently picking it up every day. When I first started learning scales, jazzy chords, arpeggios, theory, nothing made sense, these things take time, it took about 8-9 months of playing the scales to finally get used to them nicely and start understanding how to use them, how to make them sound good, after some time you seamlessly transfer into playing without even thinking about it, just letting your emotions talk through the guitar. You should not rush with these things though, just because I typed scales do this bla bla bla... go at your own pace, hell, even just play those basic chord shapes for a year before learning something else if that's what it takes. Just learn more stuff when you want to, don't force yourself, guitar is not about practice or theory, it's about having fun. I did just that, I had fun, and when I wanted to have more fun, I learned more techniques, more theory, more interesting stuff, then I got good, at my own pace. Good luck on your journey. [13.03.2021] I got my piano about a week ago... I can already play some cool stuff on it because I already knew lots of theory on guitar, I just transposed my guitar knowledge into the piano, and damn... The piano really makes you see everything much clearer and it really reinforced all my theory knowledge, everything started to click. It really helps because on the guitar you have a vertical and horizontal fretboard and it's not easy to see some stuff at first, while on piano since everything is just horizontal, you understand some stuff more clearly. I have to say though, it's SO hard to play different rhythms with your left and right hand on the piano. That's a skill that I will only acquire over time I think... Since it's a MIDI keyboard I can do insanely cool stuff with it, but there was this one thing where I always threw aside... Using a metronome, learning timings... On the guitar, I kinda got away without really learning about those, but on the piano, it seems essential... So there is lots more stuff to learn but the piano sounds incredible. One interesting thing was after a year of jamming my ear had improved a lot, I could find scales on the piano by instinct, I can just feel what should be the next note, etc. So if any of you are considering getting a keyboard, I would say don't wait on it, just get it. It's insanely fun. On the other hand, my guitar playing is going great, I am learning more arpeggio shapes (Paul Davids has some superb videos on this!), I am integrating these arpeggio shapes into my jamming and making it really sound like the next level. [13.08.2021] 5 months have passed, another update time I guess... I have probably played at least 5 hours every single day in these past 5 months due to being mostly at home still, some days I have played 10+ hours... I think I am just addicted to guitar now, the pleasure you get out of this instrument is crazy when you get better. I just close my eyes and jam with other people, or to tracks on youtube, I learn some shreddy songs that I want to learn, which are getting way easier to learn because I just see the patterns on them now, I see how they are written, after looking at the tabs briefly I can tell what they are trying to do with their solo if that makes sense. I don't have the need to look at the fretboard anymore since I have it completely memorized in my muscle memory, I can just play blindly, just by purely listening, also finding the key to the songs has gotten ridiculously easy since I am so used to playing by all 12 different keys and hearing them I guess. I haven't focused much on the piano, I would love to do that but there isn't a "Rocksmith for Piano" and I think Rocksmith was truly the reason why I kept going at guitar, because it made it so fun to learn, and it helped me immensely to get through that beginner's non-fun obstacle so the reason that I didn't continue piano as much is that I just cannot get over that beginner's curve, but I love the piano as well. I have been improving myself on blues lately and getting that funky feel down, I still cannot f**king sweep as fast as I want to :D but I am getting there. I am still using my beginner-guitar, I really want to get a new upgraded guitar soon with a whammy bar to do crazy tricks and better pickups, but guitar prices are ridiculous in my country now, so that has to wait :( [19.12.2021] After my last update, I have moved to another country for my studies, currently I have been living in Rome, Italy for the past 4 months, I have joined several bands here and people have been amazed with my skills on guitar, in this short span of time we even had a concert with our band! It's unbelievable to think that I got good enough to be able to give live concerts and join bands. But so far, I have earned 0 money from playing guitar, I wish I could earn money by playing this instrument because I love it... but I just don't know how. Other than that, I haven't improved much since my last update, I am currently learning some solos/licks for the songs that I like. I also should mention that I have a channel where I very rarely upload some of my playing, but if you want you can subscribe to me there kzbin.info/door/QnUNUZLkSssPRqPe557-hwvideos

Tipsly It would be kinda impossible to not look at your fingers doing that part. If you try to stare at the screen in this game like guitar hero you will miss a lot of notes. My favorite method of learning a song is to do the riff repeater until i get the parts down then slow the parts down to 40% on riff repeater and practice my ass off until I can play the song at max speed.

as someone who has played like 20 instruments over the years... I started on guitar and I switched to bass because my god I just can't do what you guys with the magic fingers can do on that guitar. they just don't work that way for me. I see that and I go "well I'm screwed" granted I do know that playing the bass itself is a little slower by nature just by the size of the strings and the distance apart of the strings and frets. but still even on a guitar my fingers don't move that fast. that's delicate work. that being said because of Rocksmith I think I might actually finally learn some songs on guitar which is something I could never do before.

This song for the most part is fairly easy. It looks intimidating but its a scale, which you can practice. +Epic Fox Gaming 657 Even if you can't do this song until a few years in, Rocksmith is still way more fun than Guitar Hero. And it's not a waste of time

Honestly, in the long run, get Rocksmith, everyone's past the plastic guitar age now.

the only bad part of rocksmith is you've got a high chance of being absolutely lost the second you take away the visuals. learning guitar this way is comparable to memorizing guitar hero with 9x the buttons.
@AllusernamesgoneFUCK7 жыл бұрын
The more you play a song the more you'll memorize it without needing the screen anymore. Reading the screen is the hardest part, but it just takes some effort. Rocksmith is a good tool to keep somebodys attention with playing an actual guitar while teaching them some songs and fundamentals. For some It's much harder to learn with a book, but with a video game there's more fun factor to keep someone wanting to play because many gamers want to learn how to play guitar but don't have the attention span or desire to learn from a book Lol
@JacobKinsley6 жыл бұрын
the foxy llama the problem with that explanation is it's like saying reading sheet music is bad because when you take away the sheet music you can't play it.

People saying "psh it's easy. But the solo is impossible!!! 1!!" you probably are lying about being able to play the rest of the song because the solo is just a lot of tapping. It's harder, but not _that_ much harder to the point where its impossible.

I know this is a dumb question but I'm getting my first guitar soon and I'm gonna be using this, but what does the note at 4:22 mean? It's just a blank rectangle with nothing inside it, are you just strumming without holding down any strings or?
@EIite078 жыл бұрын
That just means to continue playing the same chord you were already playing (the "x" in the blank rectangle means to also palm mute it). They do that to prevent redundant information from cluttering up the screen.
