I love this game but as a die hard fan of the band the details about it just annoy the hell out of me, like the fact that the used the post law suit explorers and flying V's for James Ane Kirks guitars, small details like the iron cross's pick up rings being white, Kirks Les Pauls are all eclipse's, the bands proportions are kinda comic like, they're 80s versions are a mix match of different versions of them instead of just picking one year of how they looked, not having a early 90's version of the band, cutting out Cliff from the photo's in the gallery, but of course most of all... the bands mocap and lack of it, if you notice they re-use or don't even capture some of the member's for certain songs (all of the songs I'm referencing are not the ones exclusive to 360 stages as those fully capture by the band), you can clearly see specially kirk trust they almost just used his what I would call "generic" animations like you would see in GH3, and in 90% of the songs the band has no interaction with each other, unlike the fully captured 360 stage songs, but the biggest offender of the mocap issues is Lars... I know his drum kit isn't his old tama set he used for most of the songs and he doesn't play them like the album versions but damn... it's like every time I notice he's always missing a beat... for the game they should have used live versions of the songs so Lars could capture them the right way and it would feel more authentic as you are playing it for a crowd anyways. Long pointless comment but it's something that's bugged me for years about my favorite guitar hero.

While their visual style is a shame i guess Neversoft just wanted it to fit their style of Guitar Hero, while details are lost they still represent who they are [even King Diamond who was kinda changed thanks to Microsoft]. Cliff and Jason were excluded because Metallica themselves asked Neversoft not to include either of the 2 [even if they are cut from photos which that prob crosses the dumb line] So they had few more restrictions. I think Mocap is also exclusable, im already suprised Metallica went and mocaped quite a lot of animations for the game [as Aerosmith was kinda 50/50 on how much tehy did it and Green Day to my knowledge having to use actors and not have members mocap] so having few reuses for cases it isn't fully mocapped is fine... unless you refer to Death Magnetic, which ill be honest, to my knowledge Generic Vocalist Playing Guitar animations don't exist on other games so, they specifically made those just to have James spaz out for those songs.

@@ThatTonnatoTenrec I kind of get your point, but look at for example GH Van Halen, their mocap is amazing, they all interact well on all songs, but what did you mean on MS changing King Diamond?

@@lionwolf2797 Early on you comment you said tiny details being lost on instruments on such. Thought you know but King Diamond's make up had to be different in order for him to be in the game [since his usual make up is upside down crosses] Same with Iron Cross for Lemmy's bass which is why i remarked on those along with what other changes Neversoft did for their own or had to.

@@ThatTonnatoTenrec Yeah I see what you mean, I know some stuff needs to be edited out, but that's what always didn't get, GH is all about rock and Metal, and everyone knows that the most unrock thing there is, is censorship, I know they had to appeal to kids but that always didn't sit well with me though out all the games

@@lionwolf2797 Its a shame really, not just in visuals but even in song lyrics [GH5 and BH censorship] but at those times companies like Microsoft were much stricter. Its a shame considering it would be a few years until they opened more, but by that time on RB 3 stood on its last legs.

I would love to see To live is to die. Seen them play it live once on some anniversity and that´s one of Lars worst performance in history. Their was 0% of the record version. Almost like he had never herard the song before and just made it up as he went. In a horrible way

Haha this capture the way Lars slaughters his own songs. This is kinda masterpiece on record and when he plays it live it changes to the worst. He skips or cant do any of the fills

To be fair, many young drummers who covered this song on KZbin can't play these fills accurately either and would admit it's a tough song on drums. And these guys have all the time in the world to sit at home and practice this one song to perfection before recording themselves and uploading. Metallica and Lars in particular, never gave too much spotlight for this song, they play about 17 more songs on top of that. Plus age and stuff.
