"Whiskey in the Jar" is an old Irish Folk song, made popular by the Dubliners, then rocked out in the 70's by Thin Lizzy (also Irish), and now covered by Metallica...that is why it is different. Metallica has an entire album of covers.

As already said by many others, this is a cover song, and probably the best version of this song out there. Another great one is a cover of Turn The Page, FRICKIN AMAZING. Another couple of really good ones are off of the Garage Days album, The Wait and Am I Evil? Of course there many more great covers on that album, but these 2 are my personal favorites

Metallica do this song justice. Thin Lizzy did some great tunes. This is one of them. I love both versions. I respect Hard Rock Bands that can play with Rhythm and Melody. I own 33 Status Quo albums. Since 1968 they have been my musical journey. Long Live The QUO!!!
