I'm blown away. This was just masterful. To cover a song like that and make it their own is a real true art. The piano parts played on guitar are cool. Metallica doesn't do shitty cover songs. When they cover a song, it becomes a Metallica song. If there is one thing they are underappreciated for, it is their ability to do stuff like this. I can't think of a single other metal band that would even consider doing something like this. Metallica killed it, and you could see they were having fun doing it.

I look back and there is no way these kids knew who Elton John was, or even cared, when they first started... and look at them now... fucking crushing it at an Elton John Tribute concert. Metallica fans, from the world record holder of listening to Funeral, I love this! I can tell you the immediate enthusiasm of the audience may have been dampened by hearing a cover of this song not knowing how good it would be. Imagine Elton covering a Metallica song that you don't know how it will be. And this is a fan favorite.

I was lucky enough to see EJ open with this at MSG on Thanksgiving night in 1978 (and John Lennon came out for the encore). This is right up there.

Metallica has already put out 3 Garage releases..another would be the 4th. 1)The original garage revisited was side B of the creeping death ep. 2) Re-revisited -the $5.98 ep, and 3) Garage Inc.

Been a fan since Metallica started but i never realized just how good James' can sing
