LYRICS
Take a deep, waking breath
Hope the blood arrives
Burn my eyes with the sun
And pretend I’m alive
It never will appear
Strong as past desire
Light warming disappears
Like a cold, dead fire
Should I fall, I fall down
Would you come, you come round
Wake me
Caught in the spell, I’m dreaming
Wake me
Day after day, repeating
Wake me
Sleepwalk my life away
Stagger on through the fog
In the midnight sun
Shouting out at the shapes
Of the nameless no ones
All isn’t what it seems
Cannot comprehend it
Captive inside a dream
Where the dawn won’t end it
Should I fall, I fall down
Would you come, you come round
Wake me
Caught in the spell, I’m dreaming
Wake me
Day after day, repeating
Wake me
Sleepwalk my life away
Should I fall, I fall down
Would you come, you come round
Wake me
Caught in the spell, I’m dreaming
Wake me
Day after day repeating
Wake me
Sleepwalk my life away

It's hard to tell with his shitty tone but I think that he's either using a pick or a percussive fingerstyle. I'd say that isn't slapping though. From a playing ability perspective I have to say, he really isn't a great player. He's got a decent right hand and his muting is good, I'll certainly give him that but he's no fretboard impresario. One thing that I've noticed as a rhythm player and a bass player is the space for exploration that James and Kirk leave as well as the spaces where you are either on the root or on octave or harmony lines. There's so much space for creativity with the bass in Metallica. If you listen to the Outlaw Torn and dial your ears into what Jason was doing, he was just starting to figure out that space to explore. Same goes for Until It Sleeps. What Rob does do well, is be a great band member and promote cohesion within the band. Not only that, he's been in long enough now that he can kinda tell the other three to "stop being idiots" when they start to drift down the wrong path or do something dumb. One thing that I've come to realise after being in many bands over the years is that bands are not just about music, they're about the coexistence of artistic personalities in confined spaces.

Dearest Metallica. The world is desperate and seeking something, anything, Fresh and NEW!!! And you delivered HUGE!!! Metallica has established themselves for decades as one of the Greatest Metal bands. "72 Seasons" is so damn Fresh. So very solid, tight, hard hitting, so full of hook and no doubt will skyrocket the boys to even Greater heights. So far, every single track is solid. More than that, each tune delivers the uncomfortable familiarity that is identifiable to Metallica alone BUT everything, from the composition and arrangements, riffs, solos, drumming and Thank GOD the BASS guitar are so fresh. The production really presents everything that is Great about this band and even more so, James' vocals come through like never before. Seriously. Likely to be his best vocals since Ride the Lightening or Puppets. No filler found here. Just straight forward gut wrenching goodness. Thank you Metallica. I am not sure what the approach was with "72 Seasons" but I would definitely hang on to it for a while. These songs do not have the computer cut and paste vibe to them. Everything feels perfectly timed and thought out. Nothing is overkill. Some exquisite transitional riffing. The foundational riffs for every tune feel perfectly crafted and have no rough or forced edges. Gives these songs the feel of being played for years. The drive within every song is exciting and truly energizing. Id imagine we will be hearing these tunes in every gym, UFC match, military training exercise, every club and metal show around the globe. This is the album weve all been wanting since "Justice" I dare say, a Masterpiece.

I absolutely LOVE this new album! Inamorata is legendary good. Several other genuine classics on there as well. I’m amazed how good it is. Lost my dad a couple years ago and my mom is going any day now but I was able to show her the new album last week. She’s hardly all there now but still loved it. They sat in 98 and listened to all of Load and Reload with me to make sure it was safe for me as a 13 year old who had just discovered Memory Remains and fell in love with Metallica and guitar, which changed my life forever as a future musician. I still remember the trepidation I felt as I watched my dad listen through each song. It wasn’t long until he shouted, “THIS IS REALLY GOOD” over the headphones as the air guitar and drums began and the fear subsided giving way to us bonding over discussions of the lyrics and riffs and sounds my dad thought found influences in his older favorites. Many great memories and now my kids are doing this with me and loving every song. Great job guys. You should be very proud. Thanks for the great music. This is up there with your best of all.
