Ride the Lightning and Peace Sells are my top 2 favorite albums of all time. And that's for any genre. Both massively important to me and my metal journey. I don't think Peace Sells gets credit for how dark it is. Everyone hears the title track and thinks the entire album is just politics, but it's actually the opposite. Lyrics about murder, death, black magic, spells and hexes, cheating, and Russian roulette. Lyrically it's almost as dark as an album as Show no Mercy and Hell Awaits but just not quite as explicit and not going for the shock value that Slayer was obviously going for. Lots of great riffs and jazzy groovy moments like on Bad Omen. To me it's perfection in my opinion. Also just wanna shoutout Sacred Reich just saw them a couple nights ago and they put on a great show! The American Way is a classic🤘 love these videos keep it up!

I was disappointed at your Overkill comparison to Dio there. In Union We Stand I can see why, but most of the songs rage many times harder. I would not be putting Deny the Cross, Overkill II: The Nightmare Continues, Wrecking Crew, or Electro-Violence anywhere close to Dio. Not saying you have to like the album, but that was a massive disservice to the album's intensity and thrash leaning.

This was a really cool list. I will say I never realized just how much you disliked heavy metal style vocals till this tier list lol. I have some albums near the bottom of your list near the top of mine. This was a really fun list to do. Plus a lot of the albums were big growers on me, like some I just completely ignored until going through all these albums and some really were great to me. I had Death Angel low too, but I like it more than my initial listen, i appreciate the experimentation even if it didn't work that well. Sacred Reich was another grower on me, I used to dislike the first 2 (haven't relistened to the debut yet, will soon) but after relistening to the sophomore album, it really grew on me, its slower yeah, but I thought it was still a great album. Anyway great list and thanks for sharing it and plus the link too, I really did have a fun time relistening to all the albums and even listening to some for the first time. But I gotta know though, is diabolical better than eternal devastation lol. I'm not sure if it is or isn't, I like both a lot. I think with more convincing I prefer diabolical because that album is just so fun. Eternal devastation has an atmosphere I like that I wish would appear more on destructions albums, but i think if im feeling destruction, ill put on diabolical probably.

Some amazing albums on here but missing the second albums by all top 5 UK thrash bands? (Onslaught/Sabbat/Xentrix/Slammer/Acid Reign) Comon! 🤘
@baldyhead Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree, but British thrash is never on the list of many Americans on KZbin, I don't know why, though maybe they weren't marketed well in the US?
@Goldie1977 Жыл бұрын
@@baldyhead quite probably. I play drums in the reformed Slammer and from what I understand WEA wanted us to be the next tallica and put us on tour with Yingwie Malmsteen and other such bands that we didn’t match up to. Didn’t even bother to get us on any US tours. It’s a very strange one dude. As a fan - I just don’t get why they were never promoted stateside much.

I think the only one of your rankings I have a problem with is Sodom, but I see the case for the ones you did. Nice take. I wanted to note “There Stood the Fence” by Toxik is possibly one of the most emotionally engaging power ballads by a Thrash Band.

Like your list, but I'm on the opposite of the vocals. I tend to lean more to the Metal style. I do have to disagree with ya on Oppressing the Masses album. Not saying it's better than the first. I think they stepped their game up on this album.

Awesome selection, here's some more thrash bands (more on the death thrash/extreme side) to check out: Demolition Hammer, Protector (these 2 I highly recommend), Schizo, Solstice, Blood Feast, Devastation, Revenant, Num Skull, Merciless, Torture, Violent Force, Slaughter, Hell Witch, Pentagram, Assorted Heap, Forced Entry

Another awesome job dude! Personally I'd swap Dark Angel with Exodus, and swap Slayer with Sepultura. I'd also add Coroner to Perfection... also I'd swap Megadeth with Toxik, and I'd swap Forbidden with Artillery. I think that's the main things that made me yell at my screen! :)

You're ranking Black Metal against albums by bands who mostly owe their existence to it, so the judgment is unfair. But i will say you have a great knowledge of thrash.

You need to add Devastation; their sophomore album “Idolatry”, is an absolute classic.
