Thanks for the video. Do you think it's safe enough to store the phrases in an online vault like last pass or is this too unsecure (and if so, why?) thanks again
@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 3 жыл бұрын
When you use a software wallet, the seed phrase will always be digitally accessible in one way or another - accessible only to you at the best. That's the difference between software wallets and hardware wallets. Hardware wallets display the seed phrase directly on the device, generated with their own software and disconnected from the internet. To answer your question, I would say it's safe to store the phrase in an online vault as long as you don't manage large volumes - volumes that endanger your financial existence in case something goes wrong. To transfer and store the keys to large sums, I would always use a hardware wallet.

hey your NFT videos for creators are great. Can you do a followup on the following details which i can't find clarified anywhere: 1. Much more on the digital asset lifecycle as it pertains to the physical file and the transfer of ownership. You mentioned using IPFS to store the "true" asset. But can you drill down on that, like, the long teem cost of IPFS, who pays for that storage over time? 2. Guidelines for asset format. You mentioned minting smaller jpg on Rarible while using "unlock once purchased" to allow access to TIFF on IPFS. I do large photo collages, some are massive with TIFFs over 2.5GB in size. Does not seem reasonable to me that the buyer would want a 2.5GB TIFF, wouldn't a Lightroom exported JPEG at 100% "quality" be better for both the buyer and seller? The TIFF is my best proof of authorship, if i give that away i lessen my position of proving authorship, and buers can use JPEGs more readily than TIFFs. Furthermore, do the NFT buyers understand this whole "unlock once purchased" issue and lifecycle? 3. Can you drill down on the details of editions > 1, what Rarible calls "multiple" (confusing name imo, as i thought this might mean several assets in a series or group). Anyway, re editions... please drill down on the mechanics of selling editions/multiples >1, in particular in reference to the "unlock once purchased" cycle issues i mentioned above? 4. How are editions controlled and tracked? is a digitized counter "1 of 10". "2 of 10" recodred somewhere in some way? What is to prevent the creator or the buyerrs from selling more editions over time of the same asset on different platforms? 5. Creator rights beyond the sale of the NFT. Assume i sell one of my images as a minted NFT, Then I receive an ivite from a gallery to display and sell the same asset printed? What are my rights and obligations? You mentioned the right to sell t shits etc but what about additional fine art prints? Thanks in advance for your great work

Great video! I have a question. 1. How does Metamask randomly choose the 12 words seed? 2. How does Metamask ensure that it does not accidentally choose the same 12 words in the exact same order for two different wallets during sign up for the first time? I know the odds are low but still if it is just randomly doing so, then the possibility is always there. 3. There are so many other wallets too like Trust etc? So how do the various wallets avoid choosing the same seed phrases? Would greatly appreciate it if you can explain this.
@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kumar. Thanks for watching and your questions: - I think the selection is done by a simple random function. - All 12 words are selected from the BIP39 list containing 2048 different words. Not only the correct words have to be drawn, they also need to be in the right order. Even though it's mathematically possible to get the same results twice, it's not gonna happen in the next few millions years. - Other wallets use different lists with other nmemonic seed words. Best, Ben

@ovinedelcu6803

Thanks for the insight. aside question, what are the differences between the various marketplaces and would you choose one over the other? Ive noticed that Nifty Gateway has a "waiting list" as opposed to Rarible doesnt. does it matter which platform you create/post a piece of artwork? or is it the same nft/art that can be sold and bought on cross platforms? for example, if I create an account with Rarible and someone buys my art, can they then sell it on super rare or NiftyG? im just a bit confused on the global eco system of all the various platforms and what the pros/cons are for using one or another. Thanks
@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 3 жыл бұрын
There are basically two types of marketplaces at the moment: platforms where everyone can mint their NFTs like opensea, rarible or mintable, and there are invitation-only marketplaces like niftygateway, makersplace or superrare. They accept only a handful of artists with a solid track record and a decent follower base. If you haven't made a name for yourself, it's impossible to be invited for a drop. The auctions on niftygateway are curated and are usually life-changing for the participating artist in regard to the realized profit. Once an artwork has been tokenized, you could theoretically sell it everywhere. But keep in mind that if it was minted on the Ethereum blockchain, it stays at the Ethereum blockchain.

@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 3 жыл бұрын
@@ovinedelcu6803 Generally speaking, you must build a follower base around your art and you as an artist first. A potential buyer or collector does not only supports you as an artist, he also sees your artwork as an investment that could increase in value in the future. Selling your work while still being unknown is not impossible but very difficult, not only in the NFTs space but on the traditional art market as well.

Costs depend on daytime and day of the week. During the morning Central European Time, prices are lower than average. As you are usually not in a hurry when minting NFTs, you can always try to manually set the gas fees lower than proposed. It than takes a while to confirm the transaction though.

at 8:10 what do you mean by the wallets alrady exist? is there a finite # of wallets at any given blockchain. or is the wallet generated one time in the blockchain and exists forever?
@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question Gabriel. Yes, theoretically the number of wallets/accounts is finite defined by the amount of 12 words (Metamask) combinations from the BIP39 table. In practice, the max. amount will never be reached. Hashing any combinations of 12 words results in a specific and unique seed, therefore all address already exist. A wallet and the blockchain are not connected. A wallet only contains keys to assets (database entries) stored on the blockchain. By accessing these sets of data with the keys, you prove that you are the owner of the assets. Best, Ben

Hey Johnny, thanks for your question. After the purchase, the NFT is "transferred" to your wallet (from a technical point of view, it doesn't really move, but you now hold the keys to the item). Most of the time, NFTs don't show up in your wallet. If that's the case, you must add the token manually in Metamask. You can also quickly check what assets your wallet contains when you go to app.zerion.io/ connect with your wallet and then show all assets in the overview section. Let me know if this works.

I must have read 50 articles on wallets but I still don't understand how only entering my password allows me to make exchanges. It seems that someone could steal my password if they hacked my computer when I enter it and how does the password relate to the seed words since I only need my password for exchanges..
@3DGladiator
@3DGladiator 2 жыл бұрын
The password you need to unlock Metamask is not connected to the seed phrase in any way. If your computer gets hacked and the hacker gains access to an installed and working Metamask wallet by spying the password you use to unlock Metamask, then he's able to transfer funds from your wallet to another address. This works only for the currently installed version of Metamask. On the other hand, if he gets access to your seed phrase (and he will if he gets access to your wallet), the hacker does not need to access Metamask through your computer anymore. He can install a fresh version of Metamask on his side, set it up with your seed phrase and clear it quietly. Best, Ben

This is simply because not all coins are living in the same network. Metamask interacts mainly with the Ethereum Blockchain (and Binance Smart Chain after some tweaking) for instance. The Poltergeist wallet connects to the Phantasma Chain and the Ronin wallet is required to communicate with the Ronin chain. Sometimes you need different wallets to hold the keys to different coins and tokens. I hope this answers your question. Best, Ben

If you gave away or lost your seed phrase, there is nothing to restore. Your tokens are gone. If you forgot the password to open Metamask, simply install it again, insert your seed phrase and set a new password. If your seed phrase is correct but the wallet doesn't show any funds, go to the bottom of the Metamask window, click on Add Token and search for the one you had in your wallet. After adding it, your funds should show up. If this still does not help, click on the round icon in the right-hand upper corner of the dialog box and select "create new account", then repeat the previous step. REMINDER: Do NEVER EVER give away or share your seed phrase ever!! Do not enter your seed phrase somewhere else except a fresh installation of Metamask and make sure to get Metamask from the official website. If you lose or share your seed phrase, your money is gone and cannot be restored by anyone.

You don't have to transfer anything. Sometimes, the NFT itself doesn't show up in the wallet. If that's the case, you can add the token manually. When you connect to a marketplace like OpenSea, you should see all ERC721 tokens you own. Furthermore, you can always check you address on Etherscan.io and see what ERC721 it contains. Hope this helps. Best, Ben
