This is the only time I'll ever see Glodell ever get praised, and for what it's worth it's deserved. Man's definitely dressed to stand out. That said I have to say that Basillo was definitely the one character who's clothes I was like "...Yeah he's rocking that shit". Especially noticeable when you see him without his coat while camping at night, It just really looks great on him

my favorite style is Eiselin, I love the elegance in her simplicity and silhouette plus, girls with actual armor are hot, way hotter than cringe bikini armor, I haven't play the game but visually she's beautiful, and I have to give special mention to Brigitta, I for the most part dress like that, can't beat the combo of a turtleneck (those are the vibes I get from the textures of her top) and dressing pants, it's classy, dressy, comfy, casual, formal, elegant, looks good, easy to combine and color coordinate, versatile... the gym is the only place I can think off where I don't go like that

Bikini armor is just an extreme example made purely for s3x appeal. Now female plate armor with well-defined breasts, wide hips and accentuated curves is pretty close to what they'd actually look like. After all male armor had stuff like broad shoulders, chiseled abs, and Dick bulges even though none of that had practical purpose

I love how they tied the in game characterisations to the fashion in this one. More dressing like a beatnik is actually so on point lol. Agree with your stand on basilio but I also really liked the design of Edeni and the igniter consortium head.

Loved the section before you did your fashion rankings! I can see that as a staple of your videos going forward. On another note, the Atlus games (especially Persona and Metaphor) also has some of the best UI design in games. The sophistication and sleekness of the fashion also extends to the UI design, it's easily some of the most beautiful, eye-catching designs that's it's almost a character in of itself. Even if you don't do a breakdown of the UI in a future video I highly recommend checking it out (there's even heaps of interviews on it if you get interested!)

Something I remember reading was that swords go on a different belt from the pants belt, so double belts were a practical fashion until the late 1800s that went out of style as pockets became a thing (no more hanging a purse on a belt) and as weapons changed and got smaller (no more western standoff side holster gun).

Yes!! I loved my recent playthrough of Metaphor, especially with how it subverted the look and tropes of classic high fantasy. And for what it's worth, I love the real-world fashion context talk and breakdown of themes to open the video. As I understand the art director, Shigenori Soejima, has said he looked to 60s/70s fashion for the designs and in particular brought up Burberry and Dior. And the engineer Neuras unintentionally feels like a Gautier echo to me, haha

Love the video and the content that you do overall. Everybody always talks about tiers connected to gameplay or character strength. But we sometimes neglect how much fashion is included in these games to make them pop and immerse us into the world and setting. Metaphor is one of my favorite games period and I agree with your fashion list. So much style in Metaphor that I think people overlook. I do not care at all about fashion for myself personally at all. I do appreciate it in media though and this video was wonderful. The whole channel is wonderful. The intent is so clean in this game. Haven't played it yet (as Atlus' practices suggest there may be a better way to enjoy the game later down the line) but friends and myself looked into the soundtrack, and the architecture, the monumentality is as strongly present here as it is in some of the fashion statements. It's such a strong direction and seeing how it impacts different aspects is just lovely.

Soejima the character designer said in a documentary that he wanted to make a game that has a style so different from other established fantasy RPG like FF and Dragon Quest So he went with high fashion influences so it's cool you're analyzing this you can look up the documentary its 20 minutes long

Spoiler alert.. Metaphor is set in post-apocalyptic Earth hence why the fashion looks and seems odd they mix both Modern and Medieval wear. Some might say Metaphor is a spiritual prequel to that of Etrian Odyssey
