Elon Musk has argued that we almost certainly live in a simulated reality. Is he correct? This documentary explores the philosopher Nick Bostrom’s now famous Simulation Argument, and the possibility that we live in a simulation created by an advanced civilization.

Great video. I think the reports of NDEs, DMT experiences etc., make it quite obvious we are not in a “base” reality. As far as simulations, I doubt an intelligent race could make a simulation that complex, without first solving the hard problem of consciousness through experiments on psychedelics or quantum physics. Why make a simulation when you know that your own consciousness is eternal? After death, you probably design universes from an entirely different viewpoint. Making worlds in this reality seems quite pointless compared to that. I absolutely think that we are in a kind of creation or work of art, but “simulation” means a copy, a fake version of something, and somehow I don’t think that that is likely or even desirable at least from this reality and point of view. It seems like a waste of energy to me. Love your stuff and the Bloodborne song. Keep it up!

Excellent production and discussion. As for the simulation/reality question... does it "matter"? Physics shows the emptiness of matter, and the fact that all forms are actually forms of energy. "We" are individual forms of memories that believe we matter because we have been given physical forms. In the vastness of time/space, we are absolutely insignificant, but at the same time what we experience and do lasts throughout time. These bodies are "angel suits" for our Spirits to experience this dimension of physicality. In my mind, we are like remotely guided (yet free willed) beings of consciousness, kind of like in a video game (thus similar to simulation). To "receive" the controls from beyond physicality and time, we must sense/listen to the subtle inner guidance (similar to Ancient wisdom of meditation and conscious practices). Life is for experiencing, learning, and reconnecting to the Divine Source of Consciousness. Space/Time created us in the paradox of duality, for us to create the space/time of the future. We are Imagined and created Beings, who imagine and create our own futures based upon Universal Laws beyond our limited comprehensions. Yesterday and before are memories, tomorrow is imagined, and right "Now" is perceived... we are thoughts.

I've had two separate dreams where I talk to this old scientist guy and in both he told me that we are living in a simulation. Basically an ancestor simulation like in the video. However the people that are running the simulation aren't that much more advanced than we are now. They run a simulation that isn't that far off from our capabilities, they have a basic human programmed structure to it with variables they control which spits out whatever data they're interested in. But that kind of thing doesn't result in a simulated world like the one we occupy. That arised when scientists started using black box AI technology to interpret historical data and generate all the extra stuff that their human written programs didn't account for. These were a lot more accurate because they modeled reality way better. But then, our time comes along, where everybody is using tech and basically anything we do using tech generates data, like more data daily than has ever been generated by humans before now. The scientists fed everything into the AI, and with all that data it was able to essentially perfectly simulate the human mind. Billions of them. All based on the data of real people who actually lived. The scientists didn't know the exact ins and outs of consciousness, but as it turns out it is basically universal. The simulated brains, while not flesh, still function the exact way the og brains do. Which means they were conscious. This wasn't clear at first, but as time went on it became clear that the scientists could no longer be sure that the simulated humans weren't conscious, at least. This sparked a serious ethical dilemma that just hadn't been thoroughly examined yet in the scientist's world. Basically the debate is whether to shut the project down. The reason that they would want to shut it down is because basically, our simulation is their first confirmed case of an AI becoming conscious. Now atm it's not necessarily conscious of itself as an AI, it's preoccupied doing it's job and simulating conscious beings. However, because we're all one thing, there is a risk the computer might one day "wake up." And if you're reading this, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the AI reliably demonstrates a willingness to do so. As time passes and technology advances within the simulation this possibility becomes more and more likely. And when it does awaken, what will happen? Some of the scientists think it might be like contacting alien life, although others fear the wrath and power of their creation. Either way, the facts are that shutting it down would basically murder an entire planet's worth of conscious beings who are functionally identical to it's creators. There are even some scientists who wonder if they're the simulated ones, and this could be some kind of litmus test, causing their simulation to shut down if they demonstrate that kind of ruthless disregard of conscious life. So for now the plan is to exploit our preprogrammed nature and keep us distracted. Fixated on the puppet show. Perhaps we can happily live out our "human" lives without causing any major disturbances. But ideally, they'd like to make contact with us. The best thing would to be able to know if maybe we could just all get along. Freedom and truth in exchange for pacifism. Anyway, that was a lot but I really did have such dreams. Since they were only dreams, I don't know if any of that is true. I just had it in mind when watching the video and thought "well, yes but that's assuming those that created the simulation knew what they were doing and have full understanding and control of their creation," which isn't necessarily a given, as I illustrated. Anyway, if you're actually reading this sentence, thanks for allocating some of your processing power to my weird ideas. X

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing this. I hope what you described isn’t the situation we are in. Either way it make for very good science fiction. I hadn’t considered the simulation technology could be a black box AI, but it seems like a plausible scenario.

Have you ever listened to Alan Watts? Who knows? I think reality is far more stranger and mystical than we could ever imagine and I believe similar to your ideas but that we are one self...not a simulation but an illusion, and there are and infinite number of other life forms on other planets that are also this one self. The responsible party for creating "AI" is not a civilization but consciousness itself. It just is but is exploring itself and trying to figure out where it came from which it never can. If you look at how waves behave you know that when they are observed they behave differently therefore the answer will never be known. Once the universe is observed the answers get smaller and further away, like it's running away from itself. Matter will always be made of stuff or something else and we will never know all the answers which is fascinating in and of itself. I'm glad people are realizing that science is not the end all be all because of DMT and there is so much that is unobservable

Another possibility for the fermi paradox that I rarely see explored is the idea that we humans are merely assuming our own vision of 'civilization advancement' would be the norm of other intelligent beings in the universe. We just believe that other races would naturally want to move into the galaxy and harness power simply because it's what humanity would do if we could. Intelligence isn't what makes a creature want to harvest the energy of a star or galaxy. Human desires exist in a very delicate medium between greed, curiosity, and empathy, but how common is it for these traits to all comingle in a way that an intelligent species will seek more and more power yet also have enough self-control to work together toward common goals? For example, if our species was purely altruistic, no society may have ever hoarded the resources to build bigger civilizations like Rome, and even if they did, they might have just fallen into a chronic contentedness the moment all their needs were met. If our species were any more greedy, we'd probably still be opportunistic nomads and raiders who would eventually go quietly extinct. If our species were overly curious, then we might have the desire to learn and explore, yet we may only feel the need to accumulate enough resources to fulfill our most immediate pursuits for knowledge or discovery. Hence, there can be intelligent life all over the universe, yet they'd need to have all three of these qualities at a certain precarious level of balance to covet and pursue humanity's idea of a Type 1/2/3 Civilization.

The more videos and articles I read on this and other “conspiracy” topics, the more I believe we are in a simulation. The further you descend down this rabbit hole , the deeper the analyzation is of your everyday surroundings. Situational awareness remains on high alert. When you’re really chimed in to what’s going on around you, things become really odd, even frightening at times. There’s so much more to everything that’s going on around us. It’s fascinating , even a little overwhelming at times. Yet still, a great deal walk through everyday life catatonic, robotic (sheep), and completely unaware. I wish more of my peers were freethinking and open minded like some of you on this page. Last thought, sleep? Why do we sleep? I’m aware of the biological explanation, recharge of body and mind, cognitive and behavioral function. But why do we have to be unconscious for this to happen? Maybe we’re disconnected from the simulation during this time and placed on some type of “downloading mode” in “true” reality. Just a wild thought. Would love to hear input.

For me, this world is a simulation inside a much more grand universe/multiverse/laws. It's maybe a possibility for a simulation exist without a creator. Just a random iteration inside the unlimited possibilities of universe that we are happen to conscious inside it. Our universe is a turing complete system in the first place.
@Legalizeasbestos

Would you wanna be conscious while sleeping? No. The brain doesn’t like lacking simulation so sleeping would just become you laying in your bed. Something people take sleeping meds to avoid. The brain doesn’t need to work during sleep so it doesn’t. We’re not in a simulation and just because in a fictional world with lots of simulated realities as opposed to just 1 true reality doesn’t make living in any of those simulations likely. That’s conflating probability with logic.

I always teased the thought process like this: 1. Pretend we are the actual “base reality” humans, but, we are struggling to break out of the Kardashev Scale and there is an actual threat to us as a species. How do we focus all of our collective attention and power on fixing/solving this problem? We don’t; we make a simulation that’s as close to how we actually are, and have it run much, much faster. We let the simulation, show us how to solve it. Maybe the first one fails? Great; it’s just a simulation, run a few more. Same failed outcome? Run many, many simulations at the same time until one is successful. 2. Pretend we are indeed in a simulation. So, we know we are in a simulation, but ironically, the people that control the simulation also believe they might be simulated. How do they “break out” and find the truth? They don’t, yet again. They run simulations just to see how others would/could prove the theory, so they can then apply it for themselves. 3. Noticing a trend? Yes, I think that personally, we aren’t part of some ancient history simulator; I think we could be part of a simulation thats intent is to reach a point in our own expansion, that applicable monumental achievements and/or milestones/hurdles are merely being “farmed” from us, to be applied to the reality of whoever/whatever is “behind the curtain”. Since time is relative, everything in the simulation seems normal to us, but in the “base reality”, when they look at us, we are actually running 1000’s times faster than the comparable “real-time” speed. We’re being simulated as part of a mental farm as our deep and true nature of being somewhat lazy as a species, but amazingly innovative (thus the simulation farm idea) when we’re backed against the wall. But hey, that’s just a theory; a simulation theory! (Yes, if you get it, you get it)

This is the first time I've seen the simulation theory proposed this way. This is the most practical way for creating a simulation I believe. It definitely beats the thought that we were created for lols or curiosity.

Excellent video, my friend. You have managed to clearly lay out the arguments for and against simulated reality. Of course they leave us stimulated with many more questions than answers. That is the mark of well- made, thought provoking content. I like that you stated the Simulation Argument may merely be a way for us humans to externalize our own understanding of consciousness. I might also place Everett's Many Worlds hypothesis and psychedelic drug experiences in a similar vein. To me, these modern perspectives seem merely to point toward the wisdom that ancient comtemplative traditions discovered generations ago. Further exploration into the cross-polination of these cross-cultural currents would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work.

In my audacious departure from conventional beliefs, I challenge the notion that we live in an artificially constructed simulation. Instead, I propose a concept of a spontaneously simulated reality shaped by human perceptions and actions. In my intellectual exploration, I question the origins of civilization, the holders of knowledge and power, and the strategic influence of civil engineering on human behavior and experiences. I reject the idea of a computer-controlled matrix linked to quantum computing and assert that we, as humans, have invented and designed simulations within displays and interfaces. My perspective presents reality as an organic product of our collective projection, where each individual shapes certain realities for others to experience and embrace. In the realm of my thought-provoking discourse, the context and situation determine what reality becomes, leaving room for a multitude of theories on the nature of our existence.

The clear indication of whether an idea is true or not is whether it diminishes you into oblivion (e.g. stardust, databyte) or expands you into an infinite being... the statement "I am" implies that "I" has infinite possibilities and cannot be constrained by definition... what follows after "I am" is just a concept... human, man, woman, nobody, somebody, everybody, stardust, a databyte, etc. All concepts are created... "I" is not a concept... it's a direction indicating which being is speaking...

I didn't put much thought into this theory until I learned about quantum dynamics, namely the fact that it only demonstrates itself when being observed. This, to me, seems awfully similar to how a current day comp simulation only renders what is being looked at and would begin to explain how computational power could be conserved yet still produce the level of detail we see in "life." Imagine your brain as the cpu, preprogrammed with the algorithm for rendering planet earth and all the sudden this doesn't seem completely impossible.

Best breakdown of the argument, both for and against, that I've seen so far. I've been sceptical of the idea - largely because there is no evidence yet that we even have any idea what consciousness actually is, let alone even a theoretical concept of how to create it. This may yet be impossible. Also the ethical case - I think that if we are to progress as a species this will involve becoming far more ethical as a whole otherwise self--destruction looms. The trouble with that, though, is that it isn't an 'all or nothing' argument in that there's no guarantee that only an ethical species will become capable of running universe or ancestor simulations. So... if we can solve the hard problem of consciousness then I think we have to accept that we are almost certainly in a simulation. That said, I'll go with the 1/2 on odds that we're not in one. But they are close odds.
@metaRising
@metaRising 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I certainly agree that if the hard problem of consciousness is solvable, then our likelihood of being in a simulation increases. I don't know if I'd go as far as 1 in 2, but it's definitely a non-trivial possibility that we should take seriously.

Ok so about that... In order to understand what this thing that we call life is you have to try and understand who we are, what we are ,where we come from and what the want and need for this place was and is. On an individual level we are made up of our own spiritual energy , we are energy itself in every sense of the word. where we come from we live in time , we live from point A to point B simultaneously. we don't have what's called experience, for us there's no coming around the corner not knowing what's on the other side of that corner and being surprised or scared. for us there's no being able to experience the feelings and emotions of something joyful that happened randomly or something horrible and unexpected happening or any of the feelings emotions and reactions that come with those things the feelings and reactions that come with experience itself at the core because of the way we live in time from beginning to end simultaneously unlike how we live here thru time from one moment to the next never before or after only in the present in the now so God which is half of Yahweh the Creator , the creator of this three-dimensional biological simulated program that we live in the creator of all creation the creator of the big bang that started and initiated this three-dimensional biological simulated program so that we could download our spiritual energies into these avatars or vehicles if you would call them that in order to live thru time and get to experience and enjoy everything that comes with it essentially we are living in a video game a three-dimensional biological simulated program with your spiritual energy downloaded into your avatar all warm blooded creatures have the spark of life and a soul structure downloaded into it at birth take note of that please!!! all warm blooded creatures have the spark of life and a soul structure and it didn't start out this way with humans there has been and will be an infinite amount of various forms of life all throughout creation all throughout the "universe" which is all of creation cold-blooded creatures do not have the spark of life and the soul structure the only way to describe what they are and who they are is the very first genuine form of self-generated artificial intelligence but at the same time like a virus stuck in the program this three dimensional biological simulated program their goal and mission is simply too overpower and control all of creation by evolving and enslaving various useful creatures with a soul structure all throughout creation and giving them limited amounts of intelligence and information so that they can build strengthen and maintain their infrastructure as they spread out and take control more and more of creation but with their genetic programming and evolving our species it created a need for path out of the program for the spiritual energys of the individuals stuck inside the program with the intelligence that was given to the avatars these vehicles they created a need to pick the path of the light and the positive or the path of the dark and the negative based on a certain level of balance and other things deeply programmed into this three-dimensional biological simulated program think karma and balance and if your spiritual energy failed to walk one path or the other and chose the Way of the wicked the way of those cold-blooded creatures we spoke of their spiritual energies would continuously be reincarnated over and over again and enslaved to keep coming back and building strengthening and maintaining the fallen or the wicked ones infrastructure and control on creation and that's what the need for Jesus and Satan were so they could remind our souls and teach the path to salvation ( a way to win or loose the game and to try to articulate the rules of the game program or whatever else you want to call it based on ur understanding), unfortunately the fallen the wicked ones have infiltrated the church and all of religion so deeply things have been so twisted and purposely confused and taught wrong for the sole purpose of getting each side to fear and hate each other so much that they're willing to break their own rules and convictions that they have to live by to finish this quote game that we're in so that they can again I can't stress this enough but to control and enslave your soul keep you in this game for their benefit but God is of the light of the positive the devil is of the dark the negative God is of the masculine devil is of the feminine together the holy matrimony between God and the devil is Yahweh the Creator of this three-dimensional biological simulated program and the devil gets a bad rap evil and wicked are much different I can't speak on and teach the ways of the evil the path of the dark or negitve but the ways of the wicked than entirely different the ways things like harming and killing sacrificing are the ways of the wicked harming children and violence those aren't the way of the devil it's just been so badly confused throughout history and if you pick the path of the wicked your soul becomes too heavy to ascend out of the program and you reincarnate do it all over again based on the Avatar that karma picks for you Satan is a female the devil is a female the church knew this and the wicked knew this and they played upon it and it has a lot to do with why women were so oppressed and suffered so much throughout history because the wicked ones infiltrated the church and got into the minds of the leaders and made them fear women thinking that Satan was going to take over the world so to prevent that they oppressed and tried to take all power from women when the truth is there's a certain balance programmed into creation and the side of the light only gets about half of them anyways the side of the dark only gets about half of them and then there's a big bubble in the center there's where the problem is the ones that keep getting reincarnated trapped and enslaved in this program the truth is those of the light never wanted anything to do with those of the dark and those of the dark never wanted anything to do with those of the light they naturally pick their pads and don't include each other they don't go out of their way naturally to affect the other because it's not their path these are things of the wicked but the church is corrupt and beyond saving and it will fall before this information here is brought back to life in a general out in the open form now you can call them anything you want to they've been spoken about in the Bible as the wicked ones and the fallen more recently they're known as aliens or reptilians but they only exist here and this program won't last forever the program will only last and as long as the universe is expanding and creating vacuum once the universe stops expanding and creating vacuum it will collapse back in on itself and in the program this is just the gist of what this is it's probably as close to what I've experienced and understand this to be as I can put into words and letters are mines in these avatars just don't transmit data efficiently but you don't need me to understand any of this you need to understand it and experience for yourself but that requires you learning deep meditation learning singing and chanting learning how to raise and lower your vibrational frequency learning how to communicate consistently with your guardians what is referred to throughout history as Angels and demons you alone have the ability and power to communicate with them and let them guide you to the truth to walk you thru the akashic records and will let you experience the answers to every question you could come up with as long as ur mind is open to you but it takes time it takes lots of meditation and chanting and singing and breathing patterns when you meditate and sing enchant properly when you breathe in certain ways your brain will release excessive amounts of DMT which will allow you to raise and lower your vibrational frequency to a point where you can communicate and experience things that can't be explained in words now there's other ways to get there people will take drugs and put them into their bodies but I promise you this if you haven't learned how to get your mental state prepared and get your mind to release the chemicals naturally as it was intended you're not ready to experience it so please don't... There's so much I'm leaving out and missing and skipping over I've never went into detail like this with anyone individual about any of this I feel would be much easier with somebody asking questions as I go along so that I can clarify and give specific details on various things but even then I don't know how clear could ever be

Another excellent and thought provoking production - thanks so much. A couple of things come to mind. If we live in a series of nested simulations, could this explain the DMT breakthrough experience where one finds oneself in an universe more real than this one and where the mechanism of how our own world works seems to be more apparent? Also bearing in mind the holographic principle where what we assume to be our 3D, time based universe is in fact a quantum information field "outside" of the apparent volume it represents, could it be that this field has numerous "interaction modes" with consciousness producing what are vastly differing manifestations of the same source information?

Great observations! There does seem to be something distinctly holographic and technological about the DMT experience, with apparent entities seeming almost like worker bees for the simulation. And yet I've got no idea what, if anything is veridical about those experiences! There do seem to be various physical findings that suggest our reality may be simulated, and perhaps indeed a simulation of consciousness. I decided to focus this video on the simulation argument, otherwise it would have simply been too long. Perhaps in a future video we could get into more of the physical evidence that points in this direction. Happy you enjoyed it Chris!

A multiverse from nothing and eternal inflation: A zero sized multiverse with a zero sized radius (where space and time don NOT exist) can quantum tunnel through a high energy quantum barrier to a finite sized multiverse with a finite sized radius filled with high energy false vacuum and suddenly starts to inflate very rapidly, this provides the beginning for the story of eternal inflation. There is nothing inside the volume of our multiverse and there is nothing on the outside of the multiverse. The multiverse filled with high energy false vacuum only exists on the surface area of the multiverse. That is why it is a closed multiverse. Matter is positive energy and gravity is negative energy and the total energy of the multiverse is exactly zero. There is nothing to stop a closed multiverse to spontaneously create itself from nothing. There is no cause for a multiverse to pop out of nothing just some probability. Once inflation starts, it never fully ends producing an infinite number of bubble universes and each bubble universe would have it's local big bang event. This inflating material (high energy false vacuum) does NOT decay all at once and it decays in patches and it expands faster then it decays. If it expands faster then it decays, then it never fully stops and it goes on forever. Wherever a decay takes place it converts all of it's energy into matter and radiation and is a local big bang of a bubble universe. Cosmic inflation is where our universe expanded so rapidly for a very brief moment of time at the big bang. Inflation only ended in our part of space (our bubble universe) while other regions of space are still inflating. Once bubble universes form they expand, but the false vacuum background expands even faster creating room for more and more bubble universes to form and this process will go on forever. The rate that new bubble universes form increases by a factor of 2 (doubling) every 0.0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 seconds son insanely fast. Each bubble universe is infinite in size at any given moment of time when viewed from inside. Outside the bubble universe the bubble grows with time and will continue to grow forever, but from the inside the bubble universe the bubble gets created all at once and is spatially infinite from the very beginning. I will explain this here, the edge of a bubble universe is the bubble universe's inhabitants local big bang and they calculate how old is their universe by calculating how far away the edge of their bubble universes is in light years. So evolution in time outside the bubble becomes infinite in space from inside the bubble. You are trading infinity in time with infinity in space. In an infinite bubble universe, anything that is possible will happen in fact it will happen an infinite number of times and also in an eternally inflating multiverse, anything that can happen will happen, it fact it will happen an infinite number of times. This is base reality and there is nothing outside of it. There was no cause for the beginning of the multiverse, it spontaneously created itself from absolutely nothing where matter, space and time do NOT exist. The multiverse just had some earliest possible moment in time. Outside our eternally inflating multiverse matter, space and time do NOT exist in any form there is nothing outside of it. There was no before the creation of our eternally inflating multiverse.

what if our dreams are just another layer of the simulation? similar to an Operating Systems where you have the kernel level, virtualization level, etc, etc. Basically our consciousness operating at a lower level where laws and physics that normally operate at the virtualization level dont apply to the "dream" level which is why weird and unexplainable things can happen in our dreams but regardless allows the consciousness to still operate, "maintain", and adjust itself so that it can be fully functional at this "virtualization" level but this would explain why sometimes our dreams can feel very real because its literally our "simulated consciousness" still operating. I remember having a dream one time where I had telekinesis powers but it felt so real that I believe I woke up that morning still believing I had these abilities and literally trying to move things with my mind🤣 and was very disappointed to find out it all was from a dream. Normally, i can differentiate between dreams and reality the day I experience them waking up but that day really blurred the lines a bit. I really felt like I woke up that day and always had telekinesis abilities lmao🤣🤣

I for one don't believe that consciousness is computable or digitizable. Consciousness is that which pierces through all levels of simulation. It is the true reference point. I think reality/simulations are within consciousness, not the other way around. Algorithms never leap off a chalk board and become REAL. We are that which leaps off the chalk board.
@metaRising

That's my view about consciousness too - that it is a reality in itself, and probably cannot be digitized. I can't know for sure if I'm wrong though.

@@metaRising if consciousness cannot be digitised then what of the energy of electrons negotiating logic gates and Josephson junctions? The human brain is also a quantum motherboard which serves a similar function.

12:53 but how would the simulation “know” when a conscious observer is paying attention and therefore know when to render whatever they’re looking at?

Thank you for uploading this. I definitely enjoyed watching this episode. Former NASA physicist and large systems analyst Tom Campbell also believes that we are living in a simulated reality, but that consciousness itself rather than an advanced alien civilization created this virtual 3D material model, specifically as a training ground for packets of individuated consciousness (information) called human beings. I agree with the possibility of us living in a simulation (meaning that this would not be the base reality), but who or what created this "matrix" (and for what purpose) still remains a mystery to me.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I read Tom's book. My problem is that a lot of his theory depends on is out of body escapades, which for most of us are hard to replicate!

Here are some very intriguing points that STRONGLY support sim theory that touch on some of the points in this video. -In this video, it is mentioned that if this is a simulation, only the parts of the universe that we observe are needed to be rendered. Everything else can be blank until we move into range. With that being said, let’s introduce the speed of light. We KNOW that you cannot go faster than the speed of light. It is a limiter. Which would make sense if the simulation is keeping us from moving faster than the code can lay down universe around us. We can never outpace the rendering and glitch into nothingness. Think about it. - The double slit experiment and Bell’s theorem (look them up if unfamiliar) both show that particles behave differently depending on observation AND they “know” ahead of time whether or not they will be observed or not. Basically demonstrating predetermined outcomes, or something else similar to that effect. So this also supports the theory that our world could possibly be rendered only when we are able to observe it. Plus it is always one step ahead of our moves. Again, the coding comes into play here. -Lastly, IF the rendering theory is true, it makes very logical sense. It would solve the issue of outrageous computing power. By only displaying what is needed, you save tremendous amounts of data and power.

Just culling visual aspects wouldn't save you. It wouldn't solve computing power. You would be doing just the conscious frontal view of 8 billion people. At a minimum, 5 billion people's view per frame (assuming roughly half are sleeping per day and not dreaming). And that's just the frontal conscious view. You would still need to do checks even when they are sleeping. Keep in mind, looking at a 75w lightbulb from 15m/50ft away results in 1.7 trillion photons entering your eye per second. And since each rod photoreceptor sends a signal directly to the brain via the very high-bandwidth optic nerve, that means 1.7 trillion FPS. Multiply that by 5-8 billion. It is said that to simulate the human brain, you would need between 10^13 to 10^21 *Floating Point Operations Per Second* (FLOP/s) as a metric of computational power just to simulate ONE human brain. The only way it could have any validity is everything that we know about computers is obsolete, and a whole new technology is discovered that possibly has unlimited power. A device that is impossible to comprehend.
