Metazoo Booster Box Opening!

Sorry for the late drop! Had some technical issues.
Anyway, the booster boxes for Metazoo are known for this janky thing called "Clumping" where a bunch of the same rare card appears many times in one booster! Might we get struck with wonderful oodles of Mothmen, or a pile of walking pants?

like i said in the last video, it would be really cool if they sold official play mate that trigger certain sets of 4th wall effects, similar to how in yugioh duelist kingdom, the environments affected the duel fields

@@infinite_array the problem with that is what happens with automatic effects like the beasty that leaves play if a train shows up? Does it get played only to leave immediately?

I feel like they could’ve combined Terra cards onto certain Aura cards, like how Magic has lands that provide additional effects. Like a Dark Aura that has a box that states it causes a meteor shower while in play, or different combinations like that. It would help with deck consistency rather than relying on two different types of resource cards, plus it would help pack consistency too if you could always guarantee an Aura with the chance it has a Terra effect you’d want on it

People are excited for this but it is very niche. If they expand they might want to re-release or have an unlimited set print. They are small, but by all means they're already successful in terms of getting the project made in the first place. Longevity is a problem not even bigger companies have figured out.

Hey Kohdok, I know you've had that fall out with the MetaZoo Creator a while back. But I'm wondering if you'd be up for doing a retrospective of where it started, where it is now, and your opinions on where it's going? I only ask because I found a game store, which actually has a decent of players, who seemed genuinely enthusiastic about playing and wanting more people to play it. So I'm wondering if it's worth getting into and I genuinely find the history and controversy it's had to be interesting.

It's either an Aura or a Terra. This won't be as bad of a problem once every type gets a deck.

@@Kohdok since your here, a card they could add is a 4 per spellbook card where you ask politely, either the card or your opponent for a good card if yes that let's you grab any card from your spellbook or another 4 per spellbook could be you grab a 1 per spellbook card from your spellbook but pay with life points and a beastie or two maybe just straight up give up a turn

I know they don't put much focus on being competitive, but printing how many cards you can have in your deck, on the card itself sounds like a problem. Maybe im just to used to yugiohs banlist putting cards to (semi)limited but how do you manage problem cards with this design.

Chaos Crystal back to back is insane. Also, crystals aren't too broken because even if you play 3 turn 1, a lot of costs are very restrictive like Jersey Devil and Mothman

It’s intent is to fill a more fun game for people less into sitting and staring at cardboard, which I personally love to stare at cardboard there are formats with and without the fourth wall effects.

Only some part of the card is foiled. Normal foils have the background be shiny (not the character), while reverse foils have a shiny character with a non-shiny background.

I really like the idea of this game I just wish some things were better explained and or worded on the cards. Having the LP of the cards next to their cost is kinda confusing and the same goes for the powers and attacks being pushed together with no indicator of being separate things

@Kohdok Just as an aside in regards to your comment about Flesh and Blood having the issue of the good cards in a box "sinking" to the bottom of a box, that isn't a thing. Flesh and Blood have very random packs, have had no patterns and have opened a fair bit of each set so far myself even.

Man... I know the 4th wall effects sound cool at the start, but they just don't seem like a good idea at all to me. Most of them are the kind of thing that either works or doesn't work, and given how TCG players work, that means a whole host of cards will just be awful feel-bads based on where you live or other such things that aren't easily changed. TCG players want to break and min-max everything, and that results in players feeling like they have to play the one deck that works with their climate or whatever. Not a good way to encourage variety, deckbuilding choice, all those good things.

As was mentioned in the previous video, there will probably be some way to select which 4th wall effects are active before a game regardless of reality, but yeah, it does seem like a clunky system. This does not seem to be too much of a serious game and it just happened to become popular due to investors, so I do have quite a bit of empathy for the creators who probably just went "yeah, 4th wall effects would be cool".

I didn't know I was tuning into a hour long commercial? Is this guy being paid by Metazoo? From the 15 minutes I watched this is way to complicated for people to learn. I don't think people are going to want to put in the time to learn how to play. Especially anyone under 30 who It kinda seems who this is being marketed to? So you will play a card then spend 10 minutes explaining what it does. Like Pokemon you can learn the basics in a hour or two it takes a lot of time to understand more of the mechanics and how to be good but you can play. I taught my 9 year old and she was playing in a hour. I don't think she would be able to play this in a week. That is just my first impression after watching 15 minutes of one video. The cards look great and the cryptids are cool. But the game part I think its to gimmicky.
