Bandai is a major company based out of Japan, Metazoo is an extremely niche thing in America, that people only really talk about online. How many people do you honestly think even know that it exists in Japan? And let's look at the actual value of the IP itself, most people just view it as a pokemon rip off. The art style only appeals to a small number of people, the game play isn't that great, the cryptids are all in the public domain, the only actual story MZ has is an unfinished ebook. Why would Bandai, even want to buy the most niche American thing it can find? Especially when it has such a bad reputation to everyone who doesn't already have a collection of it?

Besides the fact that image is edited… Bandai is a Japanese corporation. They are notoriously conservative with acquisitions, in no way would Metazoo’s financials/potential even be considered from a Japanese pov.

​If Bandai was going to put out a cryptid themed card game they would just base it on Ultra Kaiju that they already have the rights for and are infinitely more recognizable, they're the biggest toy company on Earth and they have access to like unlimited IPs with multi decade long establishment already And they still pump out random new ones internally that almost never stick on the regular, for every 30 Minute Missions or Love Live there's like 5 Valvraves

Zoo is just stringing people along, and Zoo folks keep chomping on the hook. The convo responses (if real convo) are such troll responses in light of the events. Mike just comes off as a mean guy, honestly, to just blow off those questions with those responses after the closure letter and its subsequent withdrawal. If Bandai gets its, Metazoo will become something completely different. Most cryptids aren't that well known outside the USA. For instance, even Lock Ness monster aren't referenced as much in Japanese media. Even Big Foot isn't exactly the same, for them it's a white big ape from the Himalayan range and more known as Sasquatch. They may use Metazoo to be an off-brand Yokai Watch and basically redo the game from scratch with their own designers and proprietary card game systems. All charm from Metazoo, the countryside/small city American lore specially, would be gone. Most executives in big companies in Japan are super boomer. They may look at Metazoo and think it's a generic platform for other brands like Hello Kitty. It's possible they got familiar with Metazoo with direct/indirect contacts with Sanrio. So it's possible even if they keep Metazoo alive, it would lose its souls and become a generic yokai kids's TCG. Also, Japanese TCG philosophy is focused on kid's audience and they go out of their way to make it affordable for kids. They wouldn't give a fuck about investors which Metazoo sadly pandered too much. It's good for collectors and gamers thou, as being a Japanese company, the game would have some decent quality standards.
