Dark Meta Knight actually _is_ given a reason for helping out. Like Daroach, he's after the Jamba Hearts. But unlike everyone's favorite space thief who wants them for monetary gain, DMK is interested in the dark power that sleeps within them. Like Marx, he's there for purely selfish reasons. (Ironically, Marx's American description is _less_ hardcore than his Japanese counterpart, where he's only teaming up with Kirby for survival. He's still evil, he just knows not to mess with the pink puffball again.)

Just something I think I should bring up that you didn’t address. In the wish Marx made, he never actually said he wanted power. He just said he wanted to control PopStar. In his description for the fight in Super Star Ultra, it says he shows his “true form”. Meaning that Marx never actually received power yet. His wish wasn’t ACTUALLY fulfilled yet. As we see, the Nova was about to crash into PopStar, which didn’t happen. Thanks to Kirby, it was stopped. This leads me to believe that the form with no arms, is a disguise for Marx to appear harmless. His real form has the wings. This could explain why Marx is able to use his wings in Star Allies. That’s just my thoughts.

Actually Meteroz, you're half right. Botched translation strikes again. In the JP version, Marx is only helping Kirby because he knows that if the Jamba Heart is completed, the universe is screwed, and so is he. So yes, he is still evil, and is only helping to save his own skin. Oddly though, Marx's idle animations can be interpreted in several ways, specifically the one where he briefly turns into his "Bat" form, and than shakes his head as he goes back to normal form. This is either interpreted as him trying to keep his powers under control, possibly feeling regret, or he's accidentally letting some of it slip out, and than going back to normal, most likely trying to convince people, "That didn't happen." So which explanation on why he's helping is real? Take your pick, cuz I sure don't know.

I think we're going to need to reconsider what is Kirby canon. Seriously. Ever since that Miiverse post it's been near impossible to determine what is and isn't canon, even with your rule of if it meshes well with or contradicts it--so many things are just open to interpretation and this has made theorizing anything extremely fuzzy. Is Kirby soon going to face some kind of predicament like Pokémon, where in canon time and events themselves are becoming distorted and we need multiple universes to explain away how all events transpiring could be possible? While Kirby games initially appear to all just be their own contained stories, there's no doubt the creators are intentionally putting more and more lore in. I mean look at the pause screens during boss fights, they've gone from unhelpful ramblings like "Oh that darn Dedede, you need to get the food back from him!" To "This foul demon hath plagued this land far before this time, powered by the ancient dark artifacts of a long forgotten civilization of great prosperity. It is a threat to the very matter of space time itself, slay the cursed entity with the thousand seals of the great ones, Kirby." Do the creators know about us people oddly interested in the story of a series initially meant to have no continuous narrative at all, and now are just fucking with us or unsure of what they're fully doing themselves? What do you think Meteorz?

The developers first started throwing in hidden lore and secret boss fights as a way of rewarding the player for doing the extra modes. At the time, they probably weren't really expecting anyone would think too deeply about it since it was just for fun. But of course, as the lore got deeper, people started questioning it since there were some bits and pieces of the extra modes that lined up with the story and other parts that didn't. That's why Kumakazi decided to give us this vague statement about alternate scenarios. The same thing happened with Pokemon and Zelda. The developers want the freedom to expand upon their games and mess around with their characters without being heavily restricted by the story. That's how we end up with all these alternate universes and alternate timelines that don't always make sense.

@@Loliphile except Kirby is restricted by the story, Pokémon no because everything is separated, but Kirby has a lot of connections to be like Pokémon, also in the Kirby Lore, there are beings that can travel to another universes, so everything is canon, every what if scenario also is canon vía you know, they happen in another universe, but there is a difference, Pokémon universes are separated, while Kirby's multiverse is not, what happens in a universe can affect another, everything is connected and is becoming more compact, every Game in the franchise connects with another, so Kirby has a cronology, we are seeing the event happening in one universe, that's the main story, the extra modes are like an extra episode of "look, in this another universe, It happened like this, so Dark meta Knight, didn't just mess with only one universe but with more, he corrupted the main story's sectonia and the one in the DeDeDe Mode that also has the error of looking into the mirror, so that means dimensional mirror can connect a lot of timeline, i wonder how many sectonias were corrupted by the same dark meta Knight and the mirror. In this conclusión, Kirby is restricted to a Lore and story, Kirby must follow the story is making now, and after, when developers wish, make another canon story but with another timeline, even a Game where 2 timelines 2 Kirbys from their universes helping each another, but hey, that already happened, amazing mirror, also magolor is from another universe. So Kirby franchise is bounded to story because all the multiverse can matter for a Game.

@@Loliphile ok, i just mean, star allies doesn't disrupt nothing, dream friends are canon and are explained, Kirby has a multiverse yeah, but they are also restricted by the Lore and canon, since characters oftenly travel to other universes (lor starcutter is always there, star dream has that also, every ancient artifact, dimensional mirror), that makes a universe's activity affect the story in another, this what makes Kirby to not be 100% free, because perfectly can appear threats from another universes (magolor and GK) basically the Lore generalizes the whole multiverse, what causes the multiverse to not be separated but everything connected, imagine if the ancients Who surely traveled to another universes made a contract with a civilization in another universes, as you can see, kirby's plot can be settled in the whole multiverse, sometimes happened and It can happen again, that's why Kirby is restricted, because the Lore doesn't imply one universe, but a multiverse+even higher dimensions.

I honestly cant believe no one has brought this up before... heres my theory, the extra modes are called "what if" scenarios. I dont believe that this makes these modes not canon, the opposite actually. I believe that these modes are extremely important to the kirby storyline because they are taking place in an alternate universe. Alternate universes are literely "what if" scenarios!! And this actually fits really well with the series lore. We already know that parallel dimensions exist in kirby's universe so alternate universes make more sense being a factor in the story than not. This can explain so many things that dont currently make sense in kirby lore! Like how magolor survived being split across space and time; he was sent to many other alternate universes and one of his doppelgangers ended up in kirby's universe as a better person. The otjer versions of him could have spread out throughout the arena and true arena! This makes sense because whenever you enter a boss fight in the arena you go through a portal in "another dimension" which is supposed to contain portals which can transport you into other plains of existance. The magolor we see next to lore EX could very much be a magolor from another universe, and this could be the same with magolor EX and magolor soul! This could also mean that the EX bosses and souls bosses in other games could be from an alternate reality too! There are more things I could go into that are in relation to this theory but I just thought i'd bring up the subject once.

Its kinda bull. It is a straight slotmaschine to understand what is even going on. What I mean is...in gueststar mode, hyness is seen falling into the ground and morpho knight is created from he butterfly stealing galacta's power. Later, hyness is in another dimension. After that, the mage-sisters are fighting morpho knight ex in their guest star playthrough. Seems like good continuity, but outside of the weird inconsistency of hyness not having a valid reason to open a portal after void got beaten in the maingame, we are still kind of in a tough spot here because it is not even clear if most of this is canon. It honestly would be better if these guys would just put the lore into the story and make no noncanon content. they are not even ducking what ifs because they make no sense. For a what if, the question of "what if it was like this?" has to be comprehensible. What kind of what if is the arena? What if there was this random building that kirby goes into to save the world? What is the what if for marx soul? What if he died? Well no, because before star allies he was clearly meant to be dead. What if he revived? Well, that should not be a what if considering it makes star allies more believable than "he just survived the explosion and then ducked off for a few years".

I have a theory. We all have the theories that void termina and kirby are related, but nobody has thought that maybe its not the substance that is bad, BUT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT. Void termina is dark matter, but what if without the dark hearts it isnt dark matter? What im pointing out is maybe the DARK HEARTS IS DARK MATTER. So if we assemble the light hearts, will we get a kirby? And the light hearts have the opposite affects of the dark hearts. If my theory is true that means the light hearts could be Anti-Dark matter. Light matter if you will. And if assembling the light hearts will get a kirby, that means kirby is actually LIGHT MATTER.

Someone took a look at the descriptions of the new dlc waves and retrieved more information. Void soul: No one knows why, but for some odd reason.. Void soul can feel. He dreams of napping, and eating on a sunny day. He can finally experience emotions. Astral birth: As he dies he smiles, knowing one day he will come back, and live a good life. He yearns for love and attention. He yearns for happiness. As he is destroyed he is purified, and possibly resurrected as a kirb.

While I do find it relatively odd how Marx does make a re-appearance in Star Allies, apparently it's actually been confirmed that the Marx we see in Star Allies IS in fact the same one from Super Star. But the big question that remains is how is it that he survived crashing into Nova? Considering the impact and explosion that occurs afterwards, it seems highly probable that Marx SHOULDN'T survive from that. Maybe it was his the powers he obtained from Nova that allowed to just barely survive from the explosion. Regardless, seems as though that the only villains in the series that we know for sure are actually dead are Nightmare, pretty much every Dark Matter being (which may or may not include Dark Mind, but he's dead anyways), Drawcia... MAYBE Yin-Yarn... Sectonia and Haltmann. Obviously if I'm missing some, I'd appreciate if someone were to make some corrections considering how I usually don't have every tiny tidbit of info up to snuff. ...Also, insert communism joke here. :P

+Meteorz I believe it was either on the official site for Star Allies or it could be part of a Japanese Kirby website that details just about everything we needed to know about the Dream Friends in Star Allies. Don't know which site it is, but of course, asking any of the people behind the fan-made Kirby Wiki site will probably yield the answers you're looking for considering... 1. I don't run any websites, and... 2. I'm not talented in reading Japanese (save for if I have to use Google Translate if I wanna look into it myself).

Marx doesn't want to bother with domination because Kirby is right there ready to kick his bouncy ass to hell and back, twice. With how powerful Kirby has become since Super Star, Marx is smart enough to side with the pink puff. Plus, Kirby would be happy to share with Marx some food. Kirby is friend and so is food. And I'm sure Meta Knight is keeping his dark counterpart in check, having defeated Galacta so many times.

I think I might have a answer to if the dream friends are canon (well it is more like a theory). What if the dream rod Kirby uses to summon dream friends is manifests his dreams into reality. Think about it. Kirby only fights bosses when they are causing trouble or are stopping Kirby from getting to his goal. So what if Kirby’s dreams are about him becoming friends with everyone. This means the dream version of Marx and Dark Metaknight are friendly and kind. This could also explain how there can be 3 King dededes. Also that well fed part in Marx’s description might be what Kirby thinks lead to Marx’s rampage.

Yes the dream friends are canon. Marx survived the whole “dead in space thing”. Marx has a yin and yang. Yin because he senses danger and wants to help and yang because when he was in star allies he was a bit corrupted by the wish of taking over the world

Here's how I look at the whole Marx is a Dream Friend thing If you can't throw a friend heart at them they are not real. Because you are able to throw a friend heart at Dedede and Meta Knight -possibly the Jambastion Mages- You can make the case that they are real. But nothing in Star Allies claims that the Dream Rod is able to bring back people from the dead, so it's safe to assume that Dark Meta Knight and Marx as Dream Friends are just embodiments of Kirby's Memories brought out by the Dream Rod....in my humble opinion

Lunarstar Nope. The Japanese website confirmed that Marx survived the crash with Nova and is helping Kirby because the Jambandra religion and Void Termina are bigger threats. Dark Meta Knight is there because it seems that he’s interested in the Jamba Heart shards’ dark powers, though it isn’t explained as to why he’s helping Kirby. Maybe just because he wants to?

An interesting theory that related to the dreamfriend is that they can be real and the REAL reason they are here is thank to a time paradox.Bandada Dee, King Dedede and Meta Kinght is in Star Allies form the get go because they are form that timeline or world. All the DLC dream friend are in another place far away. Adeleline and Ribon might have stayed in Ripple Star (maybe) Daroach have left popstar since Mass Attack. Marx and Dark Meta Knight is possibly dead and so on. but they all forced to come here. Heck, even the introduction for them even said that they are form "another game" as in another world of some kind. and their existence in this world have caused chaos. The jambandra base is altered in some way when you play as the dream friend and The divine terminus is slowly collapsed, the crystal and flower grow bigger for every update. ect as more dream friend come to this world.

Actually, me and Kingsonn Dededo (yes he is cannon, shut up) thought about it for a while, and realised: Marx DIDNT LIE AT ALL! First: He never mentioned that HE would make a wish, he said that kirby should make a wish. Second: Technically, Nova DID stop the sun and moon from fighting, even if only to slow down Nova, they did stop. Third: Marx was right about the method of summoning Nova. Fourth: He never actually mentioned WHY the sun and moon were fighting, and nobody asked, so there was no reason to lie about it. Fifth: Marx actually WAS counting on kirby to summon nova, so he could hijack the plot and NOT clobah dat dere kirbeh. Thats something only Dedede can do. Either that or were just stupid

My headcanon: When Marx crashes into the Galactic Nova, the timeline itself splits. Two possible scenarios then occur. 1. He survives the crash, therefore the events of Star Allies related to him are canon. and 2. He does NOT survive the crash, and the fight against Marx Soul occurs. and just for shits and giggles: 3. Marx survives, but is transported to a different dimension, making the fight against him in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate canon.

I like to think that since at this time (KSSA) Dedede caused a huge food shortage (and possibly an economic decline), Marx got tired of living like that and decided to take matters into his own hands by attempting to take over not only DEDEDE'S land, but MORE land just to one-up him.
