The reason why this bridge is called the Meter Bridge is because of the fact that it works on the Wheatstone bridge's principle. So, people also popularly call it Wheatstone's meter bridge. Another thing is that the wire length used in this circuit is 1 meter, so it has got its name as a meter bridge.

1 metre hota hai gawar, its not because of metre, its because of METER meaning a measuring device like thermoMETER. So its called meter bridge as it is used to MEASURE unknown resistance using wheatstone bridge's principle.

bcoz we use the wire of 1m = 100cm , therefore the word meter comes from , and due to that it is based on wheatstone bridge , thats why we considered this as bridge hence , meter + bridge = meter bridge
