Actually, this canticle, Te Deum, is Anglican. It is in the service of Morning Prayer in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. So glad that Methodists like it, too!

It is here called "Methodist canticle", which it is to the extent that it is used in Methodist worship since the 19 century. However, it was originally a Latin canticle "Te Deum laudamus" that first become known in the 4th century. The most well known English translation appeared in the Church of England Book of Common Prayer in 1549 and is widely used even today in Anglican, Lutheran and Methodist and Roman Catholic churches. It is one of the most well known canticles in all of Christendom. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6XEhJdqpsiIbcU

1. WE praise | Thee, O | God : we acknowledge | Thee to | be the | Lord. 2. All the | earth doth | worship Thee: the | Father | ever- | lasting. 3. To Thee all angels | cry a- | loud : the heavens, and | all the | powers there- | in. 4. To Thee | cherubin, and | sera-phin : con- | tinual- | ly do | cry, 5. Holy, | holy, | holy : Lord | God of | Saba- | oth; 6. Heaven and | earth are | full : of the | majesty | of Thy | glory. 7. The glorious company of the a- | postles | praise Thee: 8. The goodly fellowship | of the | prophets | praise Thee. 9. The noble army of | martyrs | praise Thee: 10. The holy Church throughout | all the | world doth ac- | knowledge Thee; 11. The | Fa- | ther : of an | Infinite | majes- | ty; 12. Thine honourable, true and | only | Son : 13. Also the | Holy | Ghost the | Com- | forter. CHANGE 14. Thou art the King of | Glory O | Christ: 15. Thou art the ever-| lasting | Son of the | Father. 16. When Thou tookest upon Thee to de- | liver | man : Thou didst not ab- | hor the | Virgin's | womb. 17. When Thou hadst overcome the | sharpness of death : Thou didst open the Kingdom of | Heaven to | all be- | lievers. 18. Thou sittest at the right | hand of | God : in the | glory | of the Father. 19. We believe that Thou shalt come to | be our | Judge : 20. We therefore pray Thee, help Thy servants, whom Thou hast re- | deemed with Thy | precious | blood. 21. Make them to be numbered | With Thy | saints : in | glory | ever- | lasting. CHANGE 22. O Lord, save Thy people and | bless Thine | heritage ; 23. Govern them and | lift them | up for | ever. 24. Day by day we | magnify | Thee : 25. And we worship Thy | name -ever | world without | end. 26. Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us this | day without | sin : 27. O Lord, have mercy up- | on us, have | mercy up- | on us. 28. O Lord, let Thy mercy lighten upon us as our | trust is in | Thee : 29. O Lord, in Thee have I trusted, let me | never | be con- | founded. 3:00 3:00
