i dont get question 5 because when factoring out b+2, why does it have brackets, shouldnt it be b+2(a+3)

Good question. You can try to expand b+2(a+3), then this expression becomes b+2a+6, which is not what the original question is. Similarly expanding (b+2)(a+3) = (b+2)a + (b+2)3 = a(b+2) + 3(b+2). Therefore the proper factoring (or factorising) should be a(b+2) + 3(b+2) = (b+2)(a+3) or (a+3)(b+2). Please ensure the bracket is always getting envolved when factoring (or factorising).
