Don’t know how I missed this in the updates. Thank you for posting it - I can’t wait!

I know that if the process was productionalized it would take much less than 52 hours, but I think it's soooo cool that the initial prototyping still makes use of manual processes, fully utilizing human problem solving and ingenuity that can then be passed off to a CNC process freeing people up to do more interesting things than machine thousands of parts! Great video!

Yes I totally agree! Taking the design from CAD to 3D prints to CNC is OK but you miss so much this way. We found a bunch of things we could improve and optimise through the manual machining process and had great fun doing it :)

I've seen one of the original Weltrekords being restored on KZbin and thought how nice it would be to own one so it's awesome to see someone bringing it back to life as well as modernizing it. 😄 (Power tools are great and all but they take up so much room and usually these days you have to pay good money to make sure they'll last a long time compared to hand tools which if looked after can last generations) I will say though I think this tool has alot more untapped potential; biggest game changer I can think of is with how robust the ratchet system is you could add an extension bar attachment to the ratchet handle while keeping the swivel feature of the handle body but also keeping the space inside for all the bits. I completely understand if not but I would love to pick your brains about it all, things like this are fascinating to me.

METMO DRIVER REVIEW I backed this project on Indegogo as part of the second phase after watching Metmo's video on KZbin about making the prototype of the driver. I could feel the passion of those involved and the “old school” type engineering and finished product really impressed me. I realised when I placed my pledge that there was a wait time and through experience of various other pledges on the platform and Kickstarter, that of course all may not go exactly to plan with regards to delivery dates and times scales. In this case however, I was wrong, the items were shipped prior to the expected shipping date in fact. I had ordered the extra bit adapter kit in it's own leather sheath as this was to be a gift for my son for Christmas 2023, my other son was to receive a Metmo Grip which I had purchased some time ago and was very pleased with. My thoughts were that these were lovely items, very well made, built to last, and if kept in good condition, could easily become a collectable of the future. Unfortunately, Fedex, whom Metmo entrusted in delivering my order to France, decieded in their wisdom to return the package to Metmo in UK after several weeks of it sitting in the local delivery depot here in France, for no reason at all.. This was no fault at all of Metmo. Since then, Metmo resent the items to me in France using Royal Mail, this time and the package arrived very quickly indeed, a matter of days in fact. All seemed good with the outer packaging, but unfortunately, upon opening the second protective cardboard packaging sheath, it was clear that the black display box was damaged on the outside and when I opened that, the inside of the box was almost destroyed where the “heavy” driver had obviously come loose and had been rattling around in transit.... With that, the long term collectability of the item instantly disappeared. I reached out to Shay at Metmo who had taken on my case since day one. That is unusual these days I find, to have the same person to look after you all the way through, nice touch and shows good customer service in my book. I sent Shay photos of what I received and in no time at all, he got back to me with various choices of how we could sort this out. The problems were all resolved within minutes, literally.... Both Shay and Metmo went above and beyond in their handling of this unfortunate run of unusual problems and proved that their customer service if of the utmost importance to the company.... Very rarely these days have I encountered a company with such good ethos and service.... I would not hesitate to recommend Metmo as a company, or any of the products that they make, service and prodcts really are of the highest quality. Thank you Metmo.

26:30 the irony of using a standard allen key to put the tool together 😆

now we just need a micro driver to put together the pocket driver XD sometimes an allen key is just really the best tool for the job

Deeply satisfying to see the crafting process to this prototype. I'm almost inspired to make my own (I'm kinda lazy though). Maybe at best, to draft up a version of my own, but I would have made a few changes for my personal needs. I definitely appreciate the simplicity. It also looks like a neat student project type thing; there are fewer parts than what I had to make for a group project - and that was an entire rideable steam train made from scratch! I had made quite a few tools myself as well, but I wish I had something like this back then. Though maybe I'm old fashioned, but the Loctite in the thing IMO is kinda cheating a bit. I would have taken advantage of knurling the hex piece and/or pressfit it even without the use of Loctite. That's just me though. To each their own.

Heya.... are all MetMo drivers created by hand this way? If so, it is well worth the £100 cost.
@MetMoCube11 ай бұрын
Hey all Metmo designs are first made as seen in this making of video then they are scaled up while still being made in small batches. We have multiple factories making the same parts too, so you might have an item that has parts machined in Netherlands, UK, Vietnam and China all in the same product! They are all assembled and finished here in our warehouse workshop in the UK. Allen keys, bits and attachments come from UK stockists. Most of our leather products now come from a factory in India. We always try to use the best people for the task at hand as well as finding new companies to work with and partner with. We're focused on making the best products we can, and boarders are no obstacle in that pursuit.

We sell schematics of our original Metmo driver here www.metmo.co.uk/products/driver-blueprint-digital-download if you want to build your own and we will likely be offering a similar thing for the pocket driver in the future. :) We don't currently have any 3D CAD files for sale for this though.
