@@crazyorganist1609 I saw the Sutherland version. It is indeed very good. But she had more than 60 years at that time and the main role for this masterpiece must be young. So, in my opinion, this version is much more appropriate for the army daughter idealised by Donizetti.

Learning this piece. Thank you for posting! I'm studying the diction and wondering if I got a bad copy of the sheet music. My copy says "ChacuN le sait" and the title of the video says "ChacuM le sait." Is that the proper way to pronounce and sing it?

It should be "ChacuN le sait" wich is the correct way to write it in french. Natalie Dessay sing it correctly and your sheet is correct too.

Joan Sutherland had perfect comedic timing. Made you laugh your head off. I don't find this funny. Its hammy.

I disagree. Sutherland was a much better singer, for sure, and I don't like Dessay voice that much... but she's and excellent actress, much better that Sutherland who was super stiff on stage. Sutherland was a great singer, a nice lady, and a dull actress.
