This track is the prize for those willing to dive deep enough into one of the best bands to ever grace this green Earth. Although if they made it this far, they're a fan for life. Welcome to the club.

Back then i was an angsty black metal teenager and my father...well, not so much. Metric has had always a soft spot in my heart and i will always remember how my dad and i connected for a brief back then while listening to this great song.

I caught myself singing the chorus to this song today and completely forgot it had existed, as it's not on any official releases online. It brings me back to highschool and torrenting music and finding other singles and unreleased tracks. Such simpler times almost 13 years ago. Funny how we just randomly remember things sometimes..

quite, quite. thanks for sharing. early 2000s/90s her voice was so clean. it's the dead of night and i find myself emulating her voice singing, it feels good to come back to these songs.

This song brings out oddly specific memories, just like the way a Perfume can. Probably my favourite metric song. And springtime. This is my springtime song.

Not to sound all hipster but I dream of a special edition vinyl of this album with this track included. I discovered it via torrent in 2011 and now I have to listen to it here because it’s not on Spotify. I’d just like a legit version of it, you know?

This was the first song I was introduced to by Metric in 2007. I went and bought the album and was shocked when this song wasn’t on there! Come to find out I bought the rerelease without this song. Finally downloaded it again in like 2012 or something and have kept it on my phone since

This is about the Parkdale neighbourhood in Toronto. I love Parkdale, it's one of the best parts of the city. So many great restaurants (if you've ever had a hankering for amazing Tibetan food, that's where to go), artsy boutiques, funky little coffee shops... and just a short walk from Liberty Village too. Might be moving there soon!

Uggh, Liberty village.... with its cardboard condos and people is the plague that enveloped Parkdale. I went to sleep in my eclectic neighborhood and woke up on the set of " saved by the bell." Sad days.

I immediately noticed this song was missing from the re release because I used to listen to the whole album sequentially without skipping tracks. I memorized the album as a whole song. Why is this missing? Fanfare and parkdale are my favorite tracks...they even bleed into eachother as a reprise...ugh someone make it right!

This is the story of the first time the Angels, Metr and Pter, were on Earth, in the 40s. The 0040's, in the first century Ad. It was in Haloninikae, in Turkey. And it was a beautiful city, still one of the most beautiful that ever existed.

Its also my personal favorite Metric Song. To even begin to realize where this stuff, this inspiration comes from, just is hard to really put into words. All lyrics, no matter how good, are always just an attempt, to capture that feeling, that moment, that deep understanding, that takes place at the root of the things pertaining to the living and on going nature of the Evolution of ones soul. Especially, in a world, where Events that span what seems to be thousands of years, or more, help frame the understandings we have all worked so hard to come to understand ourselves, as People, and Beings, in the Heart, of all of us, no matter where that Heart or Soul Originates. Damn, sometimes, I wonder who actually says these things. Who is channeling who? It just is in Heart, these ways.

As it gets harder and harder to listen to our own music on newer devices, I hate that this is so hard to find on streaming services. I fell in love with this album and song back when it was in release limbo. I wish they kept it, I think about it often.

It used to be on the original version of the album (2001) but was never released due to problems with the label. When Metric got signed with Last Gang they felt the album was "not as good" and they recorded Old World Underground. Later, Last Gang bought the rights to Grow Up and Blow Away and they re-edited the song list, leaving out this song and Torture Me. I really don't get why they took that decision, these two songs are absolute gems, but the Internet to the rescue :D

GUBA has three versions: A bootleg from the early 2000s when the album was meant to be released, the Last Gang Records version from 2007, and then at some point, I don't know why, the Spotify version that's crappier and doesn't have Fanfare/Parkdale.
