This band in general is way too good, I personally prefer the original but this one is also very good, even if I prefer the "slowed down" version that's the original

For those of you wondering why you love this song so much, it's pretty simple -- it's a complete alt-pop song. The chord progression is such a classic one used in many, many pop songs. They've just put the Metric twist on it. I don't think they used this same pop chord progression in any other song they wrote, hence why it stands out so much.

thats not why,youre wrong dont assume anything about why people enjoy music
@bluemoth32504 жыл бұрын
@@granthooper2329 But what they are saying is a fact. While you're totally right about music being subjective, this chord progression is incredibly rife in the pop industry. That doesn't make it bad, just means subconsciously thats part of the reason people like this.
@OrigamiPhoenix3 жыл бұрын
@@bluemoth3250 Considering the name of the song is "Soft Rock Star" and that it's about selling out/facing peer pressure, it's thematically appropriate that it uses a much more pop-associated chord progression.
@bluemoth32503 жыл бұрын
@@OrigamiPhoenix I know that, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with a pop-y progression. I like it, honestly. I'm just saying that's the reason we like those chords so much.
@OrigamiPhoenix3 жыл бұрын

Billy Corgan also references that phrase several times throughout his work (but I guess he would, given his apparently very high opinion of himself).
