I was in Panama City a week ago and rode the metro a number of times. Quite impressed compared to any number of other cities' systems. I bought a fare card for $2 and out $5 on it. After 5+ metro rides and 2 bus rides, the card still showed a bit more than $2 left. Fantastic value.

In London where I live you feel much poorer after using the railways. That said, you can ride as many buses as you like for an hour for £1.65 which is relatively good.

Train is 35 cents.Bus a Quarter.so 5 Bucks can give you a lot rides for your money.

0:36 Did you know that there is a hidden station between the “Albrook” and “5 de Mayo” stations? That station is called “Curundú” but it was never built because the old food market (Mercado de Abastos) occupied the space that the subway would need to build it. The last information of the “Curundú” station was published in 2019.

Interesting! We love trying to spot 'ghost stations' on the older networks - it's interesting to hear that such a modern system has one too.

The trains now have 5 cars instead of the 3 car arrangement we see in the video from back then.

I’ll be in Panama for 12h (6am - 6pm) in between flights. I won’t have much money. Is there a station near the airport (PTY) so I can go somewhere? Taxis are way too expensive and I worry about traffic going back.

unfortunately the metro doesn't serve the metro directly yet - a link is planned. If you're on a budget there's a free shuttle from the airport to Metromall which also has a metro station nearby: www.tocumenpanama.aero/index.php/transporte-terrestre/shuttle

The Panama Metro subway stations interiors are garbage free, grafitti free, rat free, and there is no sight of homeless people living in the metro stations, unlike New York, where it has graffiti, garbage, rats, homeless people, and some crime. Panama metro stations have superior quality compared to New York metro system (as well as the rest of American Metro systems, except for a handful ones).

The only thing I don't like about this metro is they took out many seats and people have to travel standing up like cattle.

Se los compramos, desde cuando los españoles regalan algo? Y si hablamos de robo, España fue la más grande ladrona en América, bastante oro y plata se llevaron para acá.
