This has Final Fight DNA all over it. Looks great though - surprised it's an Amiga game, the visuals and animation are amazing

@@onaretrotip , it's funny that @RetroCrisis mentioned Final Fight, as there is a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive homebrew port of it being made that is called Final Fight MD, and it's a surprisingly well done port of the game...so far, anyway.

Played the weekend and thought it was stunning for what is an early not complete demo. Amazing what they managed on stock a500 Lovely Parallax, neat little animated bits in the background and the 2 button support makes it a joy to play
@BigBillKelly-x2z4 ай бұрын
The game is looking amazing and looks likely to be the best scrolling beat em up on Amiga by a fair bit. I haven't had a chance to play the demo yet but in your opinion how does the gameplay compare to the first Streets of Rage game?
@willrobinson75994 ай бұрын
@edy1361 mix of both final fight and streets of rage . Remember only a demo so hopefully a bit more enemy variation will be added in as can get a bit repetitive seeing the same ones . Also be great if they add in weapons as currently the bad guys drop but u can't pick them up

It really does like if the character designer for Body Blows had been tasked with Streets of Rage. Much higher quality animation than Body Blows, obviously, but the chunkiness of the sprites and the polished colour all give it that Amiga feel. Mega Drive games, SNES games or Capcom CPS games - none of them has the same feel. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs comes close texture- and colour-wise, I guess, but still not the same. Wonderful work!
@onaretrotip4 ай бұрын
I'm glad you get my point about the Body Blows look. Obv they're much better drawn, but it's that sort of vibe I got from the art. Thanks!
@Wolfdragon92584Ай бұрын
Looks very vivid and colorful. Supposedly, in spite of the amazing sound capabilities, the Amiga can only show 32 colors onscreen at a time- half that of the Genesis. But this is very pretty- loving those indigo and lavender hues. Would love to try this!

Yeah, it's coming along really well, and I love the colours too.

Definitely looks cool. I have no personal attachment to the Amiga, but it makes me just as happy to see homebrew efforts like this as whenever someone brings a new game to the Mega-Drive/Genesis or something. An awesome effort by everyone involved! And can I just say, frankly, I find it baffling that jump and then jump does something here but not in any other normal beat 'em up or fighting game? I know the Amiga is limited with regards to inputs, but dang, that seems like something that should do stuff in EVERY melee-focused game from the past 3 decades, lol.

@@onaretrotip , I think that some super long named South Korean beat-em-up/side-scrolling brawler/conveyor belt fighter game for the PC did it around 1998. I think that the game translated to "A Night Where Good Things Are Bound to Happen", or, if you want its original name, "Eojjeonji Joheun Il-i Saenggil Geot Gateun Jeonyeok".
@BigBillKelly-x2z4 ай бұрын
What they have acheived with this games is outstanding. I must mention that it is not 50/60fps but it's running at 25/30 fps on Standard OCS Amiga anyway, (depending on PAL or NTSC) although it does appear to be smooth so easy mistake to make. Great vid from you as usual.
@adroharv51404 ай бұрын
I did wonder if that was correct as that would have been quite the achievement. Still excellent of course and looking like a very worthwhile game
@BigBillKelly-x2z4 ай бұрын
@@adroharv5140 Ye ive seen a few comments on different vids getting that mixed up. I think folk are assuming it because the game runs so well in general. The original Streets of Rage runs at only 30fps as well but in places does display tons of enemies on screen at once on the highest difficulty, over 10 if i recall correctly. My impressions so far on 'Metro' is it is right up there on quality with SOR1 and maybe even surpass it graphically, and gameplay is looking very promising. Have you played the demo yet? If so, do you feel it plays as good as SOR1 or too soon to tell?
@adroharv51404 ай бұрын
@@BigBillKelly-x2z I've not played the demo but watched a fair bit of footage now to sense it's a thorough effort in this area that hasn't truthfully been seen on Amiga My humble opinion from that though is it's shaping up to be on par with SOR1 and seems to have the benefit of being made today with the hindsight of higher expectations of game mechanics for such a game. Possibly just because it now has two buttons at least with which to design the mechanics around, and I think it shows in this regard over what we may have expected were it to have been designed back in the day
@onaretrotip4 ай бұрын
Oh really? The blurb said 50 fps and the video files I captured showed 50, so I assumed it was. Thanks for clarifying. Still, brilliant game so far on the good old Amiga! Cheers ;)
@BigBillKelly-x2z4 ай бұрын
@@onaretrotip Easy mistake to make as on top of it saying '50fps' it generally just runs smooth. I'd love to see a Megadrive port with more sprites and full 50/60 fps. That would be fairly easy to acheive n the Megadrive.

Does it map the Cd32 controller to the complicated button set? Without distinct buttons for each move I'm afraid I'd just button mash my way through. Always loved watching games, and I had hundreds of legally purchased titles in my youth, but it was always the artistry that grabbed me, not my naff playing skills. I've been excited about this but if there's any friction in the gameplay I'd probably just watch videos like this one. (I haven't read all the comments so maybe this has alreaey been answered.)
